Before the start of the school year, I will create a lesson plan and discuss the reasoning behind the new group counseling with the teachers and the faculty during our meetings. This will allow others to input ideas that may help improve the group. Once the students have begun the school year, during orientation, where the school provides for the clubs, sports, and other groups to recruit students, I will have a booth designed to inform the students what the group counseling is all about. After the students who are interested in joining, a letter will be sent home to notify the parents of the type of group counseling that it consists of and the benefits that will come from having their child attend.

Students will be informed during the beginning of the school year, when the school does an orientation for all the clubs sports, and groups that students can join during the year.

Students who are interested in joining the group counseling will take a preassessment test online that will take them approximately 30 minutes to complete. The test is the Domestic Violence Inventory Pre-Post test. It measures some factors that are affected by family abuse.

Students who score high on certain factors in the test will then have a letter given to them explaining what the group is about, who the intended audience is, what are the expectations, and the ground rules.

Upon that, they will be given a time and place where they will be screened individually and asked how interested they are in attending and what the goals that they want to see happen from the group counseling. The group will consist of ten participants.

Those who are not selected for group counseling will be given other resources that can assist them in other ways.

(Assessment Summary, 2024),
