Example Response

I could use Kahoot (a game-based quiz tool) in my third grade classroom. I would use it in the Closure part of a lesson. At the end of a science lesson on plant parts, I could create a short Kahoot with five questions, such as “Which part of the plant makes food?” or “What do roots do?” Students would join with their devices and answer the questions. This would help me quickly see what they learned, and it would also give students a fun way to review before leaving class.

3.L1U1.5 Develop and use models to explain that plants and animals (including humans) have internal and external structures that serve various functions that aid in growth, survival, behavior, and reproduction.

I would use YouTube to show second graders useful videos that are educational and also peeks the student's interest. I would use YouTube in the anticipatory set to show them a fun clip that relates to the 5 W questions that we will be learning about in class. This way I could show them a fun video that not only grabs their attention but makes them excited for the lesson. The video would teach them the definitions of who, what, when, where, and why. Then I would go deeper into those definitions and how to identify them in the lesson.

I would incorporate it during "Guided Practice" when exploring animal adaptations. Students will work in small groups, researching a specific adaptation using PBS LearningMedia. They will watch videos, take notes, and prepare a presentation. This collaborative activity allows students to learn from each other and diverse perspectives. This technology supports learning by providing engaging resources that promote critical thinking about real-world applications of animal adaptations.

4.LS1.1 Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.

I would use DreamBox in a middle school classroom like 7th grade. DreamBox has boxes you check off (4 at a time usually) for every lesson you complete. I would have students complete 4 lessons a week during individual learning time. I would use this after an English class to improve reading skills.

7.RL.10 By the end of the year, proficiently and independently read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, in a text complexity range determined by qualitative and quantitative measures appropriate to grade 7.

I would use Quizlet as my form of technology in my 2nd grade classroom. I would use this as a way to make flashcards and games pertaining to my specific lesson which is Understanding Key Details Through Questioning: Who, what, when, where, why and how? The standard is: 2.RL.1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. In quizlet you have the option to make games or flashcards with short passages that students could then answer individually (guided practice) or as a class (direct instruction). For an example, I could make a 5 slide flashcard set that has a short grade-level passage on one side that we read as a class and then on the other side could be a set of questions that we discuss and answer as a class.

For the technology, I would choose Blooket. Blooket is a fun game where you enter in sets of questions, vocabulary terms, and more to them have to answer them through a game. This would be a fun and engaging way to follow up in the Anticipatory Set & get the students to be engaged in the material we're learning in class. Through this activity students will be excited to learn about important American symbols by doing a quiz like game structure. For example, a question could be a picture of a specific American Symbol with there being responses of the definition or various different symbols for the students to respond with. The set standard is 1.H4.1 “Describe patterns of social & political interactions have shaped people, places, & events throughout history & continue to shape the modern world.”

A technology I would use is Quizizz. I would use this site because it can help students better understand the topic, and it features a scoreboard similar to Kahoot. This motivates students to get excited about answering questions correctly, which in turn helps them absorb and retain the information they've learned. I would use this as an independent practice. Each student will answer a set of questions about the continents, such as "What's the biggest continent?" or "Which continent is this?" 2.G1.2 Use maps, globes, and other simple geographic models to identify and explain cultural and environmental characteristics of places in the world based on stories shared.

The technology that I chose for teachers and students to use in a fifth-grade class is Nearpod. Nearpod is a platform that enables teachers to create and use slides and quizzes to teach their classes. This system is used in a classroom setting to not only explain concepts but also make learning engaging and fun, as the Nearpod program features polls and drawings that enhance interactivity. I would put the Nearpod slides and games during the Direct Instruction so the students are more excited to learn and listen. I would create the first few slides to describe what volume is and show a few pictures. After those pictures, I would add one of the video and quiz slides about volume that lets you pause the video so students can answer questions about it. The next step would be to utilize Nearpod’s drag-and-drop feature, which allows for formulas and the 3D shapes they connect to. Lastly, as an exit ticket for Nearpod, I would have them draw their own 3D shapes on a whiteboard for fun. Nearpod can be used as an easy way to navigate and help students learn more material while also making it intriguing. Not only does it help students pay more attention, but it also encourages them to discuss things together and learn in diverse ways. “5.MD.C.5: Relate volume to the operations of multiplication and addition and solve mathematical problems and problems in real-world contexts involving volume. b.

The technology I have chosen is Chromebooks for use in 10th grade classrooms. This technology can be used to teach students how to properly use a computer or tablet device, which will be necessary until this technology becomes obsolete. It can be used for PowerPoints, writing essays, using Excel, proper online safety, and many other important learning opportunities. I can use this to direct students on how to do research properly, and write out their findings without needing full PC's.

For example, I can have my students researching and writing a small presentation about the respiration cycle of a plant of their choosing.

HS.L2U1.21 Obtain, evaluate, and communicate data showing the relationship of photosynthesis and cellular respiration; flow of energy and cycling of matter.

I have always enjoyed this sight to manage my classroom and use the different free tools to show examples or general management. I would use it during independent practice to manage noise levels in the classroom while students are working. I could also use it during guided practice while they are decorating to give students a set time to decorate their glasses before moving on. SP2: Thinking within the discipline involves the ability to identify, compare, and evaluate multiple perspectives about a given event to draw conclusions about that event since there are multiple points of views about events and issues.
