Instead if it being out of harm's way, the bullet hit Sitting Bull's left foot, giving him a permanent limp.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Jumping Bull, Sitting Bull's father, dies in a one-on-one battle with a Crow. There are two versions of the story. One states that Jumping Bull got stabbed while trying to take out his knife. He was unable to since his sheath was lower on his back. Another version states that Jumping Bull got shot in the shoulder, rendering him unable to grab his knife.<br><mark>"He then withdrew the knife and plunged it downward into Jumping Bull's head, breaking the knife off in his skull." He also painted his body in yellow clay, his face with black stripes, wrists and ankles with black bands, chest with a black disk and a black crescent on his right shoulder. The Sun dance was a bunch of people gathered around the Sun Dance pole, while Sitting Bull lit up two pipes and held them toward the pole.</div>]]></description>

One of the offers Wakantanka asked in return was for Sitting Bull to a Sun Dance ritual. The ritual then happened on June 4. In the ritual, his brother Jumping Bull cut small pieces of flesh off of Sitting Bull's arm 50 times on both arms.</div>]]></description>
