Most think about what they want to do now, then in a few years, then in ten years, then their end goal. What if they did all that in reverse? By looking where they want to be in ten years and working backwards, I think the question will answer itself. Do you need to take the ACT? By taking the ACT, it could help you in the future when you're down to your eyeballs in student loan debt. Many colleges will give you academic scholarships based on your ACT score. So I would recommend taking the ACT multiple times, because a couple points could make a major difference on the amount of the scholarship.
