https://padlet.com/emilyarritola/politicalpartiesp5 Political parties (Republicans) en-us 2018-02-21 18:12:29 UTC 2018-02-21 19:10:20 UTC hello@padlet.com emilyarritola https://padlet.com/emilyarritola/politicalpartiesp5/wish/233899087 Republicans believe that American citizens have the right to own, carry, and use guns.  This belief rests on an ideological firmament grounded in the interpretation of the Constitution along with the basic philosophy of the party.  The Republican stance on gun control circumducts that which the party believes is in harmony with its core ideologies — that the first ten amendments of the Constitution describe the undeniable rights of every individual American.  Among these undeniable rights is “the right to bear arms” as spelled out in the Second Amendment.  Republicans generally believe that changes in sociological norms have no bearing on the rights and freedoms defined by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Republicans believe that governmental regulation of firearms is largely unconstitutional and therefore, most gun laws are an infringement on the individual’s rights to bear arms.  The dominant point made by Republicans in this regard is that the Second Amendment gives the right to the individual to protect himself, his family, and his property.

The party adamantly believes that the rights guaranteed to all Americans in the Fourteenth Amendment apply to unborn children as well. They support a constitutional amendment which states this, and which will end abortion entirely. Republicans oppose using public revenues to promote or carry out abortions, and also oppose any health care options that include the coverage of abortion.Instead, republicans support tax incentives for those who choose adoption over abortion.

 They seek Supreme Court justices who are likely to overturn Roe v. Wade, and push for incremental laws that are progressively stronger, hoping to begin a sway in public opinion. At the state level, they also seek incrementally stronger restriction laws, specifically in the hopes that one will provide grounds for an overturning of Casey v. Republicans call for stricter federal regulations over marijuana, amongst the rampant state legalizations for medical and recreational use. 

Republicans also worry about the circumstances under which individuals will use the drug if it is legal. 

Republican John Fleming of Louisiana states, “as marijuana is de-stigmatized, use goes up, and it finds its way into the homes and candy and cookies and baked goods, and once it gets there, it finds its way into the brains of teens. Marijuana will also become more pervasive as states continue to embrace permissible laws on medical marijuana and the recreational use of marijuana, and kids and youth will have easier access to the dangerous, addictive drug.”

The party believes that budget surpluses have caused Americans to be overtaxed-a condition that is not only threatening their financial prosperity, but is also hindering (and possibly even reversing) growth to the country’s economy

Overall, Republicans support a variety of tax cuts. They wish to increase the child tax credit, a credit that reduces your federal income tax per child that qualifies. They also wish to get rid of the marriage penalty, which is the term for when a couple pays more filing jointly as a married couple than they would have filing separately. Republicans want a full repeal of the death tax (also known as the federal estate tax, under which a tax is applied to the transfer of the deceased’s estate at the time of their death).

The school’s psychologist should be more important because a lot of the students here have some type of problem, either with themselves or at home. Students here are dealing with many problematic issues such as bullying, depression, and currently undergoing or went through abusive relationships. Students who are transgenders and need help to learn how to deal with it. They also believe in warmly welcoming those who enter the country through legal methods.
