Coins weren’t always used for monetary value. Starting in the Greeks and Romans, as seen, the coins usually portrayed emperors and depicted some sort of image on the back of the coin. These coins were usually gold, or silver plated. Unlike the Greeks and Romans, the Islamic culture included writings on their coins and used it for monetary purposes. Coins were the earliest forms of the Dinar, which is the currency which is still used today. It’s fascinating to see how far the concept of money has developed. We now have a complicated currency system that stemmed from gold coins.
