         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Competitive sports notes&nbsp;</strong></div><div>ccording to Science Daily, competitive success that leads to extra hours of training and practice increases the risk of burnout and overuse injuries. One study concluded that overuse injuries account for 50 percent of all reported sports.Although learning the importance of focus can benefit players of competitive sports, this lesson can take a negative turn in children who become unwilling to participate in activities other than their sport of choice.</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><br><br><br><br><br><br></div><ul><li>Winning is always one of the main objective of sports competitions. Coaches spend tremendous amounts of time perfecting drills and shaping their plays to give players a competitive edge.</li><li>&nbsp;Sports can encourage a child to focus so intently on becoming a star that the child neglects other essential areas sports of lifeffer the most common avenue to adolescent acclaim, a fleeting journey that will end soon — and often abruptly.</li><li>Sports can produce many athletes who are negative role models.</li><li>Ignore it and it is likely to get worse and worse, and the injury could become permanent. Get a professional diagnosis and follow the therapeutic advice. After a prescribed period of rest, return gradually to the sport, increasing training time, repetitions or distance by no more than 10 percent each week</li><li>Sports can produce many coaches who are negative role models.</li><li>Sports can allow many who are physically gifted to behave like arrogant bullies.</li><li>The link between sports stardom and arrested development is far too common.<br><br></li></ul><div>.<strong>Sports</strong>, even team <strong>sports</strong>, can promote selfish behavior.
