    What is being proposed?
     Kalos Eidos ‘ Beautiful Form’ is a hardwood and reflective acrylic hexagon form that depicts a kaleidoscopic installation environment. Fostering and embracing the practice of temporal public art within a large scale walk-in installation, Beautiful Form is a socially engaging sensory experience. 
     
     What are the concepts and information that have informed this proposal?
     The work arises out of conceptual interest of sensorial experiences and community engagement. The combination of light, mirrored reflections and visual and auditory cues with reference to the botanical gardens subject matter produces a site-specific installation that enhances the natural environment. 
     The significance of sensory stimulation within socially engaged art installation is critical in the inclusion of disability accessible artworks. Sensory stimulation is the activation of one or more of the senses including taste, vision, hearing, smell and touch. The most common sensory experiences evident within visual art installations refer to tactile, auditory and visual sensory stimulation, involving the sensation of touch, sound and visual cues. 
     
    Introduce the contextualisation of themes: other field of practices and interdisciplinary subjects 
     Participatory processes and community engagement within Beautiful Form forges
    connections within participants and local communities of the Botanical Gardens.
    The act of participation becomes critical to the installation as the sensorial artwork
    manifests over the temporal exhibition.  
     
    In order to produce an effective public installation for Botanica, inclusivity and accessibility is vital for all individuals who would wish to participate. The design is made large enough that individuals of all ages and physical abilities can access the installation (that being, individuals with physical disabilities and mobility issues can access the sensorial installation). 
     
    Dimensions: 
    Average height of Australians is 172.53cm tall therefore the height of the installation for individuals to comfortably participate with the work would be 200cm (2m) in height and width. The depth of the installation is 300cm (3m), this is to allow an immersive sensory experience. 
     
    The average width of a wheelchair is 66cm measured at the rear wheels. The average length of a wheelchair is 106.5cm. Therefore the width and height of 200cm will accommodate an individual in a wheelchair and will leave room to navigate in, around and out of the installation. 
     
     
    Materials needed:

    Technical details: full sheet of silver mirror aluminium compsite panel: 3mm thickness, 1220 x 2440 mm = $195.00 
    Specialised dimensions of silver mirror acrylic can be produced from the manufacturer 
    The total cost of the silver mirror aluminium composite panel will cost $1560

    This surface area will be open for participants to enter into the installation. To calculate the lateral area  the side of the hexagon needs to be multiplied by the depth of the installation and then multiplied by the number of sides.
    Calculation in metres: Lateral Area= (side of hexagon x depth of installation) x number of sides
    LA= 1m x 2m x 6
    LA= 12m2
    Therefore silver mirror aluminium composite panel  1220 x 2440 mm will be $195 per sheet. For inside the installation the mirrored interiors will cost $195 x 6 sides= $1170 
    To produce the mirrored hexagon inside the installation we will need an additional 2 panels of 1220 x 2440mm costing $390 

    The total cost of the silver mirror aluminium composite panel will cost $1560 
    The remainder of $3440 will be sufficient in the costing of hardwood panels and steel internal brackets.
