Hi Everyone! I just wanted to tell you I am so grateful we are all connected and are Biology Friends! There have been many times people have went out of their way to help me, but one I can think of right away is when I was a new mom when Zia was a tiny baby. It was really hard to juggle life with a newborn, work, and hoping to do a great job at all of it. I was sitting in a mall and a stranger came up and told me "You're doing a great job." That comment was small but meant so much to me. <3

One time someone really important to me was on a run up Euclid. They made a point to take a detour from their run, ask me for my address in Upland, find my house, and bring me a flower. However, I was at my dad's house, so they stood outside my mom's house until they called me asking if I was home and I informed them I wasn't there. Even though I didn't get to see them, their effort meant a lot to me and made me feel special.

I was a child, young and unaware of the world. My mother and I were hanging out at a woman's shop in a different country. The owner gifted me a small box of chocolate covered marshmallows. I may never know the sacrifice it would have cost her business just to gift me that, but to her it was enough to make me happy. I remember staying at my grandparents house in Arizona for Thanksgiving, and I brought my switch so I could use it with my cousins. When we left, I forgot to pack my switch and left it there. I called my grandparents and told them I would get it the next time I visited them. But my Aunt and Uncle went out of their way for me and brought it to my house. I was really happy since I had gotten a new game for it and I thanked them both and let my cousins play it until they had to go. If I did wait until I visited then again, I still wouldn't have it, so I am very thankful they brought it.

I broke down crying one night. My mother was very busy, but she walked into my room and saw me crying, and so she hugged me and just sat with me while I cried. She told me she loved me and that everything will be ok, which warmed my heart because she has so much on her plate but the fact that she went out of her way to sit with me made me feel much better.

In elementary, I was really close to this one girl, but lost touch when we went to different middle schools. I was sure that she forget about me, but when she saw in the hallways on the first day of high school, she ran up to me and gave a big hug. I was travelling to the Philippines when I was about 5 years old, and during the trip I actually got sick. Since we were always travelling, my family decided to stop so that they could take care of me. I eventually got better and we continued on our journey. Back in like 8th Grade, we went to the Knotts Berry Farm trip and I was out there with my friends sitting at the tables. Then an amazing teacher Ms Ogas asked me if I was hungry and I kept replying with no but she wouldn't take it for an answer. She then said she would be back and to wait for her so we did. One year ago when i was at winter camp with my church, i was going through a hard time and it was the “cry night” so i was crying a lot. In November 2019 regiment went to Disneyland and it was my first time spinning there and in the middle of our parade I accidentally dropped my flag but at the moment I just laughed it off but once we finished I was devastated but all of my friends gave me a hug and told me that I would never see any of those faces again so it didn't matter what happened. I was snowboarding with my family one time, and I hit a ice patch and crashed into a super deep snow bank. My brother, who saw this, rushed over to edge of the snow bank and unstrapped his board. He threw me his board so i could use it as a pole to pull myself out of the snow. When I got to the top he made sure I was okay and stayed with the the rest of the way down the mountain. If my brother wasn't there I would've been stuck in the snowbank for at least 2 hours rather than 30 minutes.

It was a day, around Christmas when I was having a hard time. I was running during practice one day, but I had a cramp in my left side, so I stopped and was standing off to the side. A team-mate of mine, named Rueben, stopped running and walked up to me. He grabbed my shoulder and pointed at all of the other runners. He said to me "Look at all their faces. No one is feeling good. They're all hurting. But that's that. They are still going. You're not done until you're done." Then he let go and continued to run. I then followed. I have never forgotten those words. It may not be perfect, but it has continued to stick with me. Whenever I have wanted to give up, those words have circled in my head. You're not done until you're done.

When I was younger and my brother was a toddler, I would would sometimes feel sad about things that were happening in my life and my little brother, not knowing what was going on, would always give me a hug and ask me if I was ok. One day I was at an amusement park when I was very young. My parents were busy talking to someone for a few seconds and they let their eyes off of me for just a few seconds. I wandered off and soon, I got lost. I was alone, scared, and sad that I could not find my family. I began crying, but after a little, a really kind worker went to cheer me up. He asked if I needed help, and long story short he helped me get to my parents.

One day, it was really, really hot outside and then this senior on my soccer team pulled over, stopped a bunch of cars behind her and told me to get in.
