Who does this help?
Farmers because this would put less pressure because if less people eat less crops to grow means less fertiliser also it will help the economics side because they wouldn't have to pay to clean the ocean.

How was he/she affected?
Positive:Their affected because if we can make people consume less the farmers would have less pressure and make their job easier and people wont just blame then

Our Sustainability Compass:

Our Node:
Snowball effect, if more people consume foods then it will cause farmers to farm for more crops, which will use more fertilizer, and then the rates of Red Tide will increase due to fertilizer.

Our Global Context: Globalisation & Sustainability
Reason for using this Global Context:
We chose this global context because red tide’s problems center around the sustainability of the ocean and fish. Because of fertilizer going into the sea the organisms will likely die because of the algae growing in the ocean, which is red tide. By removing fertilizer from the ocean, and sustaining it like that, we can reduce the amount of red tide happening in the ocean.

S- specific

what do you want to sustain?

We want to sustain the amount of food that people eat.

We want to sustain fish population for different species.

why are human actions affecting the systems?

Because since the human population is rising, more food needs to be produced and grown, and since use of fertiliser/organic matter is optimised to grow crops, the fertiliser might wash out due to storms and bad weather it could drive the fertiliser to a river/nearby water source, carrying fertiliser/organic matter to sea therefore creating algal blooms which then cause red tide to happen, and that is the human contribution to red tide.

M- measurable

what international organisations would assist your efforts?

        1. Gulf Coast Preservation Society (NPO)

        2. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commision (FWC) - (GO)

what change need to happen immediately?

We need to first build a website so that we have a tool to raise awareness and one thing that would have a positive impact is that if we have someone or a company that is maybe more experienced and popular to help us gather audiences so that we have more viewers to spread the website.

A- achievable

what change is achievable for you alone? The change that is achievable for us is to spread the word of red tide locally, that then the chain will go on and spread more if we can get some starters like first audiences and they can slowly spread it this would help us a lot because we already raised awareness.

what change is achievable with help from the UN?

If we can get hold of the UN we could ask them if they could maybe get our website and kind of some sort sponsor it on their website so that more people that look at the UN everyday could maybe get interested and check our website.

what change is achievable with help from the public?

We can give out pamphlets to the public so that when they read it specifically near our school so that its convenient, this will increase awareness for red tide locally in Singapore.

R- relevant

How can we evolve with our changing systems?

We can evolve by using less fertilizer for crops, because it then will suppress red tide, with less rate of algal blooms. Evolution can also happen by farming crops in areas that don’t have water sources near the area, instead have a farming area with water around it.

How can you make people understand the relevance of your campaign for change?

We can make people understand the relevance by telling them how fish is precious to is, whether it has a tourism impact or an impact of restaurants, because Red Tide will affect our tourism, because it will be a horrible sight to see dead fish drying up on shores, and restaurants might end with a bad reputation because they might accidentally serve fish that are affected by red tide.

T- time bound

Can life be sustained with this action occurring?

I think we can sustain a part of a place with our action but it's probably unlikely for a website to sustain the whole entire world but any little action can help.

How can your campaign for change sustain life?

As I said I don't think were going to sustain life like the whole world but how we can sustain this is entirely up to the audience if they can keep spreading and taking the knowledge and using it to use it would sustain and help us.
