James Lange theory: the arousal comes before the emotion (pounding hear.... fear)
-stimulus> physical change> emotion

Cannon-Bard theory: the arousal comes at the same time as the emotion
stimulus> physical change & emotion

Schachter-Singer theory: arousal paired with a cognitive label then the emotion
stimulus > cognitive label / physical change > emotion

Opponent Process theory: emotions are in pairs (fear/ relief, pleasure/pain, depression/elation)
-explains addiction cycle

* I think that Schacter-Singer Theory explains emotions the best because often times we know encounter stimuli that aren't quite recognizable but we feel their affects, once we interpret the label. Like if you see a happy movie you might cry when characters get reunited but you might also cry in another movie when someone dies, however, we still interpret them differently
