To enhance the quality of my art project, I made the decision to extend the duration of my video. This meant that I needed to create the audio first to establish the overall atmosphere. To accomplish this, I generated multiple AI voices and blended them together to achieve a unified and harmonious effect--kinda like the character*UNITY* in rick and morty

The first time I heard this is like a shriver from my spine touching the deepest part of my brain, the identity of my self, forcing me to ask the question who am I where I come from.

I chose the clip from the 3D model I scanned in my previous experiments and surprisingly worked really well in this part.

In practical applications, AI excels at extracting useful conclusions from complex information, much like how positive and negative spaces in a painting complement each other to form an overall aesthetic. However, it's important to note that AI is not infallible; at times, it may make mistakes or have limited understanding. In such cases, human judgment and intervention remain essential. Therefore, the relationship between AI and positive/negative space is one of mutual supplementation and cooperation, driving the progress and development of technology and real-life applications.

The reason I post this is simple- its very beautiful.

After this correction, I decided to experiment with different aspects of the process. I played around with the printing direction and explored the dynamics between negative and positive spaces. Interestingly, during one trial, the paper got stuck in the roller, but the mishap left an unexpectedly amazing texture on the paper along with the printed words. This happy accident sparked my curiosity even more. It made me realize the potential for unique outcomes that can arise from unexpected situations.

The entire experience has fueled my enthusiasm to delve deeper into the world of typography

Also I did experiments with neural networks and wanted to share the outcomes with you. In my digital weaving attempts, I crafted a singular unit by overlapping text. It's comparable to weaving a scarf but in a digital context. Additionally, I explored diverse visual representations of neural networks using typography. Each type of variation serves as a unique portrayal, capturing the intricate and dynamic nature of these networks. These endeavors allowed me to blend creativity with technology, showcasing the versatile applications of text and design in illustrating the complexity of neural networks.

Time and sequences would show: as readers go through each page, there are gonna be little development and they can see the differences. something is happening in the system.

I also found the fundamental rule of classification is 七情六欲qī qíng liù yù" in Mandarin, which is “ inherent human characteristics, meaning they are viewed as basic emotions and desires that all people possess” so if a creature has 七情六欲, it can be regard as human. God do not have 七情六欲, so God is not human.

I also took references from many other artworks( TV Series, Game..)listed in the pictures, and I found the Interesting point:

and more to generate visual ideas. Inspired by the surrealism in one of my favorite movies, 'The Holy Mountain,' I'm exploring how future cyborg style combines with cult concepts. To make the images feel less like AI, I used the technique of a 'movie shot.' This means adding a cinematic touch to the visuals. It not only makes the pictures more interesting but also helps create a unique view of the world.

Even though I was not satisfied by the imagery I produced, at least I knew the process of quick production and deciding on my concepts.

But I felt like the focus in the detailed part is not strong enough to show the overall revolution. The emotion behind detailed is too subtle.

And I wanted to look for something unusual for a cyborg.

The concept of sexuality seems like an unnecessary trait for a cyborg to have, they are not human, they can’t reproduce.

But I used succubus いんもん（inmon）, (frpm Japanese fiction, 🤬, neologism) a stylized uterus-shaped mark on a woman's pubis, representative of supernatural sexual debauchery; "crotch tattoo"; "pubic tattoo"; "womb tattoo") to represent the sexuality and cyborg。

The brain is a human code processor and the place where human thoughts are stored.

For the sound part, I used: 1. Record my vocals directly in PR -> 2. After all recording is completed, perform vocal post-production, noise reduction, etc. on each segment... -> 3. Choose appropriate background music And edit background music, such as fade-in. I didn't use a lot of sound effects in this video

However I found that some videos require you to choose appropriate background music before editing the image. Otherwise, I have many situations where the image cannot match the background music style.

These measurements are generated in the application so might be not accurate.

As image experiments results, I should produce 3 images each with 2 layers of different colors.

Applying this concept to my exploration of 'AI in visual storytelling,' I aim to explore how AI, as the author, can occupy and transform space. The changes it introduces, such as generative art or data modifications.

I want to explore into the AI's perception of space and its impact on our physical surroundings.

Screen print reflection:

I wanted bright orange on dark blue, but it was too bright. So, I added a white layer to cover the blue and support the orange. However, I realized my image had a halftone blue, making it less dark. If the maker isn't worried about the brightness of the fluorescent color on top and the image uses halftone, they can print the fluorescent color directly on top, skipping the extra white layer.

I also experimented with a single layer, rotating the paper to print in different directions, creating an overlapping effect. This technique yielded excellent results for my halftone image.

The TouchDesigner workshop for projection mapping was super cool! I got to play around with making visuals come alive using technology and learned how lights, angles, and movements affect this effect. Teaming up with others was fun, and we shared lots of ideas. The workshop showed me that my digital art can be more interactive. It was a short but exciting experience that sparked my interest in combining tech and art. Now, I want to keep exploring and creating with projection mapping in my art projects!

I can use this part to further create various effects for my image audio and video, such as creating noise transformation for my space image and projecting it together with projection mapping.

I asked technical about how to make the effect change over time, and she gave me two plans: the first is to use code to directly change the value into a variable, and the second is to add a beat to substitute the value into the beat, and can be added "math" controls the output value (-1~1>0~1)

This projector is not suitable for projection mapping for:

-The full projection screen size is too small

-The projector itself is too heavy to place in the room

Upon researching short and long-throw projectors, I found a comprehensive explanation on a recommended website (refer to the attached web link). Considering my projection space in Pod D304 with dimensions of 2m by 2m (width*length), I opted for a short-throw projector. The Epson EB-L200SW Short Projector, available from LCC's loan facility, fits my requirements with a throw ratio of 0.4 to 1, allowing for larger images from a shorter distance.

In case longer distances are needed, my backup options include the ultra-compact LED projector ML750e and the Epson EB-L250F.

In the last workshop, we switched from using ps5j to Processing to make the computer do more of the design work. While generating colored dots might seem simple, we explored ways to make it more interesting. By adding things like capturing sounds or pictures as conditions, we made the computer create more interactive and complex designs. It was like teaching the computer to be creative! This workshop helped us see how coding can be a cool tool for making unique and interactive art.

Why topography?

The term originates from 'topo' for 'place' and 'graphia' for 'writing,' serving as a means to visually represent real-world spaces. It helps show real-world spaces. I wanted to use it to illustrate the AI-generated virtual space. I chose TouchDesigner because it makes the effects I wanted easily. In this case, AI is like a tool helping create a space without any limits in the fourth dimension

Reflection:

The final shape of this artwork is more of a tree than space lines, giving a sense of organic life growth. This piece is designed to be user-interactive: simply type the keyboard keys 1/2/3 to switch between different spaces, akin to changing channels on a TV. There are no boundaries between each space.

Using projectors will work great here.as projecting onto a space implies creating a new reality. Users control this space, becoming the authors of their experience. Simultaneously, the AI, generating this effect, acts as another author shaping the space.

The outcome is amazing with these details!!

In two separate print , the first version lacked fluorescent orange, and the paper used wasn't thick enough. Despite these shortcomings, the color and texture outcomes were surprisingly successful. To enhance both color and paper quality, I made a second attempt. Unfortunately, the blue ink was nearly running out during the second run, making it impossible to cover the entire paper, resulting in a less successful outcome compared to the first print, even with the improved paper.

While this is the best effect I can achieve, I believe the projection effect could be enhanced with either a larger display size (covering the entire wall) or a smaller one (a very tiny cube spot).

I adjust the setting in the touch-designer to make sure it will work smoothly on Wednesday.

A common question is about the choice of blue and orange colors for screen printing and its connection to my digital work. The process involves exploring the boundary of reality through screen printing and overlapping spaces to create a boundless space. I have extended this exploration digitally through generative artwork to form the concept of a limitless, digital space.

Providing some guidance may be helpful for the audience to better comprehend this aspect of my work

A valuable piece of advice came from Yanzi, emphasizing the importance of combining more human connection into the artwork. This is a real reminder to me, not to dive too deeply into theoretical and visual practice-avoiding excessive abstraction. I need to balance it with real-world connections. Figuring out how to make my work more interactive and where to place it is crucial

What went well:

-Traditional printing became a highlight as I successfully combined it into my visual experiments. Beyond digital sources, I adapted printing skills for my topic, producing many prints and learning efficient color layering. I can now independently create screen prints.

-My exploration of TouchDesigner was fruitful, showing my ability to transcend initial expectations. Using coding thinking patterns allowed me to achieve the desired effects, such as the interactive keyboard selection scene in my work.

-I maximized school resources, using the screen print and creative technology lab for generative coding, and projection mapping, and received technical support from many people. This connected me with various individuals during workshops.

Areas for Enhancement:

-Enhanced User Interaction: On the exhibition day I had discussions on user interaction with TouchDesigner. Inspired by Kaxin's music visualization project, I recognized the potential of adding Audiro for enhanced interactivity.

-Lack of Human Elements: Addressing Yanzi's feedback, I realized the limited human interaction with my work, with only keyboard selection. Future improvements could involve direct audience interaction with the projected image, potentially integrating a camera to detect body motion for image changes.

Exhibition Communication:

Most feedback was delivered verbally during the exhibition. Insights from individuals like Amy, Mari, Yanzi, Kaxin, and others, whose names I might not list individually, greatly influenced and enriched my understanding.

Learning Outcomes:

Applying research skills, I transitioned from virtual data artistry to problem-solving in TouchDesigner. Workshops explored both digital and physical image-making techniques. Navigating diverse materials, I learned to present my work effectively. Collaborating with classmates and seeking technical feedback enriched my artistic journey.

For the first Cyborg portrait, I drew inspiration from MRI brain scans and distorted wires.

Because of the complex feelings and emotions within a lot of things about humans, A.I in the future only can provide objective views about things but some things might be very difficult for them to understand.

1. Presentation Slides: My slides have a clear topic and visual focus, avoiding lengthy text and unclear writing. Feedback from individuals unfamiliar with my topic indicated their understanding of my presentation.

What needs improvement:

1. Public Speaking Skills: Despite incorporating cues in my slides and on my phone, nervousness prevented me from utilizing them effectively. I need to practice controlling the overall speaking pace and avoid repetitive explanations.

What I learned from other students:

1. Feedback Skills: I realized a deficiency in my feedback skills, as some of my questions or sentences may have unintentionally offended others. I aim to learn how to provide more friendly and constructive feedback.

2. Favorite Work: Suan's "Hug" stood out to me. Her unique experimentation process, especially the transition from fruit to the paper puzzle ball, inspired me. It demonstrated how creative ideas can stem from simple objects. I also appreciated her feedback on the VR game, drawing from her own experience.

Additionally, I'm intrigued by unconventional ideas like the 'Triwich-Triwich,' which involves three unattached pieces of bread holding ingredients between them, an upgraded version of a sandwich. An article specifically defining classifications for sandwiches, Triwiches, and even Tubewiches explores this thinking mode, adding another bread to elevate the everyday subject of a sandwich into an 'unreal' creature. While it may seem unusual, the act of adding another bread adds extra flavor to the sandwich, raising questions about our conventional food choices

A notable online phenomenon involves followers of specific dog social media accounts referring to themselves as the 'Auntie/Uncle' of that dog. It mirrors a virtual familial relationship, where they greet the dog and even send gifts, acting as online family members.

But it is just an idea. There are always people loving dogs even though everything is changing.

I just need to be careful not to do too much research at the start. Research means gathering information, like text and essays, and sometimes I focus on that instead of making images.

My Favorite Plot Summary: The character encounters a boy whose life journey mirrors his own. Upon the boy's death, the hero realizes his own mortality and anticipates his future death, yet a yellow flower consistently blooms in the future.

Reflection: This story intertwines themes of identity, an uncertain future, and time. The yellow flower may symbolize reincarnation, offering a positive sign of human immortality. However, to me, the flower represents 'meaninglessness.' The past, present, and future form a circular pattern, blending certainty in death with the anxiety of an uncertain future

I am unsure of the role of being both an illustrator and designer, questioning how to find a balance between experimentation and audience in my artworks. As a designer, I assume the role of Party B in the trade, creating creative works for Party A. Finding a market for experimental works is extremely difficult.

My favorite part is the painting room, where numerous oil paintings are layered on walls and shelves. The act of opening a shelf to reveal more paintings feels like stepping into different eras. It's a bold and immersive experience, contrasting with the Wallace Collection, where visitors peek inside covers for a glimpse

I love the symbolic metaphor to explain the Manifest& latent content from Die Traumdeutung by Sigmund Freud. The events in the movie is like a dream within a character's consciousness, creating a surreal and odd atmosphere. It reminded me of the Fish and Dragon dance during the Chinese New Year, where people held enormous fish lanterns on the streets. The fish figure, especially the fish eye, are notions of death, neglect, and peculiarity.

It felt a bit off and too wide for what I can explore. It didn't quite match the personal background ( I do not have a dog due to restrictions) and focused approach I wanted. So, I need to shift to find a topic that suits the project goals.

The show was even better than I thought. The videos on the first floor, mixed with the pictures, told a story that urged us to care more about our environment and why nature matters. Seeing the huge difference between beautiful green places and messy, empty lands was scary because it's a real problem happening on Earth. So, I wrote down some things about it

Tree branches are In various forms, often covered with moss from the rainforest, adding a plush thickness of a millimeter or two to give their trunks a satisfying fuzzy texture. The pathways between the thickets become soft, inviting me to lie down, and if I were to sleep for an afternoon, I'd wake up to find my back damp. The greenery then recedes, revealing the earth's infertile nakedness in shades of brown and red, with wrinkles and furrows standing unabashed. The disorder becomes order, twists become straight, undeveloped undergoes transformation, until we build houses on them, tear them down, rebuild, and tear again. This is the unreality within reality.

I connected with this artist as it relates to my theme of Visual Authorship and Space. I appreciate how her artworks provide funny and hilarious experiences through movement, sound, and contrast, enhanced by vivid, bright colors. The sound effects in 'Dance in the Rain' are especially captivating. I need to find my way of expressing my absurdity in my artworks.

1. Time: Past/Now/Future - I enjoy exploring the concept of time through reading and thinking. Words that capture the complexity of thought inspire my artworks, allowing me to express ideas uniquely. Despite my dislike for repetition and wasted time, I'm intrigued by nihilism and seek my own path by studying time.

Within the time limit, it might be challenging, I will start my Triwich as the first project with the research of Time: Past/Now/Future.

These lanterns come in different sizes. The big ones need eight people to carry them, while the small ones can be carried by just one person. At night, the fish lanterns glow, creating a beautiful sight. Not many people know about this tradition, so I made an illustration to share and celebrate Chinese New Year culture.

Why I chose these:

I love the 3D models and textures they expressed. I want to explore using Blender to build 3D models. Their 3D models are ordinary objects: the left one depicts plants, the middle one showcases buildings that LIVIA wants to inhabit in the future. The fuzzy, plastic, toy-like, particle textures add a playful feeling.

How this links to my theme:

Since I aim to express the same playful feelings, learning the way to express it from Baorong and these artists is really helpful. But I still need to see if that fits for my final work—more experiments!

Reflection on 'Who You Are':

This workshop prompted me to contemplate my identity and clarify my attitude towards work, life, and the future. The challenge of finding appropriate time in my fast-paced daily life has made me feel anxious and hyperactive. Karl's idea of "no art for everyone" made me rethink my work's setting in a public space, aiming to define it for everyone. However, I realize it still targets a specific group of people passing by (specific passengers in a particular area at a specific time). Additionally, learning about Fluxus, an anti-art movement, during the Yoko Ono exhibition at Tate, made me question the concept of "art for everyone." Yoko Ono seems more focused on "everyone's view can be political – Power of the People." While I understand I may not reach that stage, I'm grappling with the balance between the contemporary art features and the commercial success of my work

He suggested "Marmite sauce," and I chose Natto as a similar food perceived as absurd. I identified some patterns:

1. The definition of 'absurd' food is highly influenced by social and cultural factors. Given my Asian background, most of the food I thought of is Asian because I'm familiar with it and can contrast it with the standard perception of that type of food. Thinking about cookbooks, it's like looking at pictures of food we might dream about, like the ones in games or stories—things we'd really want to eat but might not have in real life. Cookbooks often show an idealized version of food, not exactly what we eat every day. They're like a history of imaginative food ideas. When different food ideas mix, it creates new and creative types and flavors. For example, in Chinese food, we don't actually have fortune cookies in China, but they became part of the cuisine through a mix of different food cultures. This shows how sharing food ideas can make cooking more creative, bringing in new things that challenge how we see traditional recipes.

1. Wider Focus: Right now, I'm mostly talking about Triwich. I want to talk about more types of food or other things. I'll learn more, by looking at what chefs like Heston Blumenthal are doing for inspiration.

2. More Visual: I haven't made enough pictures. I need to tell a story and plan what pictures to make. This is an important part of showing how things are done.

Among these four food pictures, there are two (at least I know) that really existing in real life and were once very popular. But all of them seem absurd, off the traditional food combination, such as how raw fish and rice can make a cake. But I can imagine it should taste very good.

Reflection: This experiment with TouchDesigner allows the audience to draw things using a Mac trackpad.

Further applications:

1. This can integrate with hand gesture tracking, enabling the audience to draw using their hands in front of the webcam.

2. This similar format of pencil drawing can be used as an interactive tool to experiment with different image types.

I explored three areas: Editorial illustration, characters, and publishing, testing their ideas.

Reflections:

1. Cute characters did not effectively convey the absurd feeling in visualization.

2. 2D illustrations with flat ingredients lacked absurdity and seemed more suitable for children's illustration books teaching them about ingredient identification and cooking.

3. I appreciate the comic narrative. Depicting the regular sandwich preparation process and suddenly introducing a 3-bread sandwich could create an unexpected outcome, generating an absurd feeling.

4. I also like the idea of creating cook recipes. A more commercially serious format combined with absurd recipes could be another form of my outcome.

Finally, I chose the 2D flat shape for the manual narrative, as it suits well with the clarity needed for "cooking instructions." The hand-drawn style, on the other hand, seems better suited for a cooking class aimed at children, teaching them how to create a triwich.

3. Improving the guide system: For example, the Glass Animals website is a bad example due to its difficulty in navigation. The pop-up windows without clear instructions make it challenging for users to navigate.

But it's tricky to add wavy black lines in green; I'll need to do this in InDesign and apply it in Adobe Illustrator. Without the lines, it'll be less amusing.

The advantages of using Blender include:

• Direct transfer of 3D to 2D elements as needed.

• No need to purchase ingredients, reducing food costs.

• Blender has the fuction to animate the model for short motion graphics.

However, I also met some difficulties:

• As a beginner, creating realistic models and complex shapes is time-consuming. For simpler tasks like extracting 2D shapes, it might be easier to use 3D scanning and take screenshots.

• One potential solution is to use free Blender models; I downloaded some bread models that look realistic. However, I still need to add textures myself, which I haven't figured out yet. Nevertheless, this solution might be useful for future animations.

These drafts and layouts show the content for each page of the guideline, covering elements, logo, color, and typography.

I have decided that the tone of voice should be /human, /creative, and /absurd.

Reflecting on the process, I realized that although I had made draft lines on the bagel surface, I twisted the knife in the wrong direction the first time. Fortunately, I corrected this mistake on the second twist.

Considering the cost of food, I believe there are better ways to experiment than using real bagels. I took a 3D scan of the object and ate the bagel (of course, I couldn't bear to waste food).

Given that the brand emphasizes "hands-on creative food-making," I decided to handwrite the name, and it turned out really well. This approach gives off a playful vibe as if someone casually wrote it without much thought. I created a second version of the handwritten title, reducing the type height to improve the visual balance between the word and each letter.

Design: There are many shops at the coffee festival, each with its own unique design style, most of which are bright and colorful. As a customer, after touring the first floor, I was already visually fatigued. I believe that many shops opt for such vibrant designs to stand out, but in reality, large areas of solid colors are more eye-catching within a sea of colors. Simply adding elements does not make a design stand out; rather, it should focus on the essence of the shop itself. Among them, I particularly liked the design elements of Minor Figure's shop, which were very simple. Large white shelves were stocked with Minor Figure's oat milk products, with only three flavors available, alongside a coffee machine for users to try the combination of milk and coffee.

To decide on the final logo design, I experimented with different color options and asked for feedback from friends. After comparing the visual impact of each option, I selected two logos: one featuring a landscape hand and another with a round logo without a yellow background. The square logo is suitable for use as an image within text, with sufficient spacing. Meanwhile, the round logo can be used for patterns and images on the packaging or in smaller spaces.

I re-examined the Let's Create hand-written and digital pixel styles. While I initially thought the hand-written style was a good fit, considering all the styles I've experimented with before, the pixel style might be the better choice. I already have a variety of fonts for the product name, body text, and tags, and the hand-written style might make things look too messy.

I like this one!

I prefer the yellow background as it adds vivide vibe and gives it a playful, somewhat silly look, much like a triwich – a stupid idea.

The visual hierarchy prioritizes the main content, followed by the subtitle of the page, and then LetsCreate. I found this structure very useful, especially after studying digital class case presentations. It helps me to check clarity and understanding for my audience.

Next, I'll start with web building, starting from the homepage demo and gradually more complex tasks.

thought one of my favourite illustrator: David Shrigley. by making things seem silly, strange, or funny in a surprising way. He often uses simple drawings with funny or weird captions to make people laugh or think. Sometimes, he draws everyday things in odd or unexpected situations, or he might write words that don't seem to make sense with the picture. This makes his art quirky and unexpected, bringing humor and a sense of playfulness to everyday life.

Drawing from this inspiration, I need to find my way of Let's Create and the Triwich concept with their absurd charm.

My imaginative scene is:

1. In the middle of a very busy street, like Oxford Circus, a person is eating a Triwich while everyone else keeps walking past.

2. Or imagine someone selling Triwich right there on the street while explaining " triwich.. it is not a simple object.. it is a form of reconstruction and beauty of art.." . But most people just walk by, not really listening. One hungry person stops, buys a Triwich for four pounds, and eats it quickly because the person is really starving.

In addition, I paired the pixel VTF font with 8-bit music as the background soundtrack. Initially, I considered using some retro digital music, but then I heard the music from a Nintendo 3DS (my friend was playing at that time). This inspired me to explore early digital game 8-bit music, and I found one that clicked with the vibe.

At first I chose Jack Stauber's music as a reference, particularly his song "SHOP!" from this series: link. These songs narrate shopping experiences in a grocery store, with each song focusing on a specific product. They feature catchy melodies, quirky lyrics, and a blend of vintage and contemporary production techniques, making them quite absurd when combined with their music videos.

However, Suno couldn't recognize the music artist, so I just provided the music genre, but it didn't work well.

Instead, I wrote the prompt as "depicting an absurd real-life scene of a person with a triwich (an unconventional sandwich with an extra bread to form a triangular shape)."

The resulting song had a similar style to another music artist I love: Tom Cardy, who is also a comedian. You can find his work here: link.

using 3D scanning technology and augmented reality (AR) modeling, I placed the Triwich in two t scenes: an office lunch setting and a bustling tube station.

This odd contrast between the presence of the Triwich and its surrounding environment.

I encountered several issues with the web layout while positioning the graphics. I consulted Cargo's tutorial page and searched YouTube for solutions. Eventually, I decided to use the Gallery default setup to arrange my images freely, adjusting the padding and margin as needed.

I also selected a music soundtrack from [link], and when I played it, my friend immediately asked if it was for my brand. This positive response confirms that the music track aligns with my brand's style.

For non-horizontal text, such as the cooking instructions and Triwich stickers, I uploaded them as images. Everything is now draggable and interactive. :))

At first, I thought about adding things like bread, cheese, and lettuce to the logo. But then I realized that the hand holding the triwich was special. By changing its direction, I could create lots of different looks

One particular highlight for me was his '27 ways of using lamps. It is a masterpiece of functionalism, emphasizing the utility of design over appearance. What struck me most was Mari's advocacy for design democracy,in his introduction books that empower audiences to become makers themselves. His work can ignore time, remaining practical and relevant even in today's context.

Urban modernity:

Despite being a Taiwanese restaurant, in London BAO adapted its offerings to suit the tastes and preferences of diverse urban international audiences. By combining traditional Taiwanese flavors and ingredients with contemporary culinary techniques, BAO has created a menu that appeals to both Taiwanese and locals. In terms of visual aesthetics, BAO's branding and design are characterized by simplicity, elegance, and attention to detail.

Pixel Baoniverse:

Exploring the brand's website shows its ambition to create a pixelated BAO world. Through pixel art, the website connects all branches, presenting a cohesive BAOniverse. From pixelated cityscapes to food illustrations and staff portraits, every pixel blends with traditional street food,

adding a bit of extra playfulness.

It gave me the possibilities to explore different visual expression in food presentation

Therefore, I've designed a logo using assets I already have. Instead of featuring a real triwich as the logo, I've decided to focus on the graphic elements. The triwich serves as the main logo mark alongside the product name, and occasionally, a hand element can be added to connect it with the LetsCreate main studio.

To set the scene for office lunchtime, I'll need to produce a series of advertising posts.

As a result, I decided to create a more narrative poster, one that's longer and describes a person working in an office nearing lunchtime. The person is feeling very hungry and is pondering what to eat, considering various options before finally deciding to try something unusual: a triwich

These posters can be used in the social media and also in real life

The flyer is estimated to be A5 in size and is intended to be placed next to the triwich for curious customers to take with them. Although small, I included user instructions to add some humor.

Additionally, for the triwich street food store, I designed a menu featuring only signature triwiches. To connect with my LetsCreate food studio, I included options for customers to either enjoy the triwiche as eater or maker ( making experience.)

First, I want to use yellow acrylic for the front cover, so I've booked time in the 3D workshop for next week. For binding, I'll opt for coil spiral binding, which I can arrange in the print and finishing room. Before that, I need to select the paper and use the digital print room for single-sided A4 color printing.

First, I selected the paper, then I cut it to size in the print finishing area. Next, I printed the guide using the digital print room and trimmed it to its final dimensions. Finally, I chose spiral binding for the booklet.

when copapring paper, I chose for 300GSM white card because it accurately displays colors and does not have any warm tones. I confirmed with the digital print department that 300GSM is the thickest paper the printer can handle. I wanted the booklet to have a high-quality feel, so I went with the thicker paper option.

For the binding, I thought spiral binding would give it a playful vibe. I initially preferred the orange spiral, but its 20mm diameter was too large for the booklet. Instead, I chose a smaller 10mm greenish-yellow spiral that matched my main color scheme. If I can book time in the 3D workshop to make an acrylic cover, I will consider changing to the orange spiral.

Overall, I learned how to create a spiral-bound book during this process.

What went well:

• The spiral binding adds a dynamic touch to the studio and was probably the best binding option considering the booklet's thinness (it was too thin for a hardcover and stitching was not suitable for single pages).

• The overall effect of the VI book exceeded my expectations. The paper is sturdy enough to stand on its own, providing more options for photography.

Areas for improvement:

• even though I used the digital printer, the color saturation did not meet my expectations. I need to adjust the color registration for the next print run.

As a solution, I experimented with the Media Block printer and found that it can produce more vivid colors on the 300GSM paper. I may consider using that printer for future prints.

I drafted a prompt for inputting into Midjourney, aligning with my pixel retro style.

The images generated by Midjourney met about 90% of my requirements, but I still needed to adjust the visual style and fine-tune details like text and patterns. To achieve this, I used Photoshop for post-production, ensuring that the final result maintained the pixel art format while enhancing its realism.

From these experiences, Midjourney interior design is as powerful as its ability in illustration

Therefore I changed the home page to a more clean grid layout with website header and footer to give the overlay menu for audience to navigate.Additionally, I included a pixel illustration (created using AI) of the store on the landing page to provide visual context.

I took the menu I made for triwich and put it on the website. If you click "maker," it takes you to instructions for making triwich. If you click "eat," it takes you to the store page. And I made some pictures of flying triwich to make it fun

I also added flying triwichs to add playfulness.

During the session, I took the role of the designer in the team with other 8 people (and I only know 1) As we collaborated, we became more familiar with each other's roles, and our teamwork began to flow smoothly. In the critique stage, the communication went smoothly and everyone almost made comments on works . Shannon excelled in note-taking and feedback compilation, which greatly aided our zine layout process. My responsibilities included overseeing the illustration layout and the printing session.

However, we met big challenges in formatting the zine and organizing the text layout due to our unfamiliarity with zine design. and if we choose to use zine template we can save more time on this stage including the tasks of gluing and cutting, which we only considered later in the process. This should be disccued at the first stage. We only considered about the binding.

Reflection of my work:

For this session, I presented my VI booklet, website, and stickers, though not all of my works were showcased. but the display visual effect achieved my expectations. It is crucial for me to complete the acrylic tomorrow to improve the visual presentation further, and also, bringing a real triwich for demonstration.

I also made an acrylic stand for the triwich graphics, small triwich, and the triwich menu. Instead of using UV printing, I went for an easier option – printing on sticker paper using the printer in the Media Block. The colors turned out better, and it was much faster. Overall, the final result looks great, and I am hoping it will complete the whole visual system nicely.

I want to extend my thanks to Weiyan, Cai, Huixin, Yiwen, Kaixin, Mari, A person from Hong Kong, Ren, and others whose names I didn't catch. Some of them attended the morning session.

Overall, I would rate the visual impact of my work as a solid 10/10! I feel very confident this time.

If there's anything to improve, perhaps it would be to present the process of teaching people to create a (tri)wich in a more serious manner. However, it's challenging to achieve that in such a small space.

Additionally, Mari suggested exploring alternative formats such as a VR game centered around making a (tri)wich or a 3D acrylic installation. These formats could enhance audience engagement, leveraging the graphic assets I currently possess. I envision a playful 3D game resembling LEGO, which could serve as an educational tool, creatively teaching children about food in an engaging manner."

During the spiral binding process, I met a challenge in the spacing between each hole due to the size of my paper being slightly smaller than A4. and also I added margin at each end.Therefore I had to meticulously measure and calculate the distance between each hole. Although the spacing may not be precisely 4:1 as intended due to previous machine adjustment. I still calculate the approximate numbers and seem to be perfect matched.

Additionally, when determining the size of the acrylic stand, I started with a cardboard demo and used a ruler to estimate dimensions. While it may not be perfectly measured, I am confident it will work.

Results:

• Flyers: Standard paper yielded the best results with optimal resolution. The two papers from the art shop failed to reproduce colors accurately.

• Booklet: The 300GSM paper proved too thick for the printer. Printing in the wrong direction created a layered color effect, but correcting the direction led to indentation and ink deficiency in certain areas.

  
  

Conclusion:

For flyers, I will stick with standard paper on the library printer. As for the booklet, I face a choice: either adjust the saturation for the entire file and reprint using digital print (a challenging option due to limited accessibility), or opt for a colored cover. Given time constraints and the complexity of adjusting the entire file saturation, I chose for the colored cover. Minimizes the risk and time .

I started by ordering sticker paper from Amazon（the cost of paper is already in the budget). Then, I designed two versions of the sticker layout – one with larger stickers and one with smaller ones – on A4 paper. Sending the designs to the printer( need to make sure the paper direction is correct). Finally, I cut out all the stickers in preparation for the photoshoot.

This is my planner for the spring holiday and the second part of unit SSP. I will start developing the visual identity and, based on the poster, finalize different products and develop cooking instructions.

In the second stage, I plan to build a website shop for 'Let's Create!' to sell triwiches and other absurd foods, along with printed riso zines if I have enough time.

For the final stage, I know it might be too early to start organizing the PDF at the beginning of May, but I need a clear direction to guide me. While a heavy workload might make this difficult, I will aim to create a simple structure outline.

I also learned a unique binding method that combines two spiral bindings into one book, allowing the reader to mix pages together and create a random reading experience. This approach is a very interesting way to engage with the audience and can be used to create flexible, random memories or explore probabilities. Applying this randomness to narrative structures could also be very intriguing, as the controlled aspect becomes almost negligible.
