The Seneca Falls Convention took place on July 19th and 20th, 1848, as a kickoff to the "women's movement". Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott felt a need for equal rights and desired to form a society to advocate the rights of women. These 2 women led the Seneca Falls Convention More than 300 men and women were involved, including Frederick Douglas.
This convention was the start of something great. It gained national attention for the women's rights movement and for the suffrage movement. This was the beginning of men and women equality. Women had a voice after the convention.
After learning about Stanton and Mott, 2 of the bravest women at this time, it encouraged me to not hold my tongue for anyone and to speak up for what I believe in.

Mary Harris Jones, also known as Mother Jones, was a known labor and union activist who started the Social Democratic Party and established the Industrial Workers of the World. Mother Jones was devoted to helping coal miners and railroad workers, for whom she traveled to numerous strike sites. As adamant as she was, no one could ever change Mother Jones' mind about what was right and what she put effort into. At 82 years old, when participating in a strike in Virginia, Mother Jones was arrested and sentenced to 20 years. Fortunately, with the help of her supporters.
Jones' started a movement for all labor and union activists across the country. Her impact has shown others and myself to never let the opinion of others dissuade you from your own beliefs.
