Netiquette is a combination of internet and etiquette meaning being respectful online to others. When posting comments online, it is important to use common courtesy. This includes communication, via email, blogs, and social media accounts like facebook and instagram. One has to understand that messages can be very misinterpreting depending on what kind of language a person uses or the emojis we use today through the internet. Practicing netiquette is important for students because it gives students a sense of respecting others and understanding of being treated the way you would like to be treated via the internet. It teaches accountability, standards, and limits inside and out of the classroom. As being professionals, Netiquette is a very important term. It shows other people such as employers that you are polite and focused if your social media and internet sites are clean and censored. By doing this, others will be encouraged to treat you in a mature way. To Leanza and I, Netiquette is a important for our futures as becoming teachers. Keeping our social media sites and internet communication clean we will be more likely to get respect from others that we work with and others that we may not even know.

Citation: Netiquette.
Rule #1: Remember the Human- Nicole Winglovitz

Remembering the Human talks briefly about making sure you understand how it would feel to be in someone else's shoes. In this regard, don't say something online through email or any type of media source to someone that you would not say to them in person. While communicating online you have to be aware of the other person that could be on the other side of the site reading what you say. The people on the other side of the computer is not aware of the facial expressions you portray, the gestures, and the tone of voice you use. They are very un aware and could take what you say in a wrong way.
Although the internet is a very good way to stay connected with people it can be very deceiving. I chose this Netiquette rule because whenever I communicate to other people even if it is through text messaging people always perceive what I say in a different way as well as I perceive the way they talk in a different way then they meant. As an example, last semester I was emailing my teacher about class and I had mentioned that I had to do an observation during his class period. I told him I was not going to be able to make it to class. He emailed me back saying just ok. To me ok was not a very professional email and I was unsure if he was really okay with me missing class. I ended up showing up to the class because I wasn't sure if I was able to skip. He was shocked that I showed up because he was totally okay with me missing that class period. As an end result, the communication wasn't very thorough and proper.
Becoming a future teacher it is vital to teach my students this rule of remembering the human. It is very important, because being a student and you will have to email your teachers with respect and make sure that the way you respond and email your teachers matters. As students, you will have to be able to communicate knowing that the person that you are emailing on the other side of the computer is unsure of how you mean when you type certain things.
Citation:
(n.d.).
How I would Teach Netiquette Rule #1 to my future students -Nicole Winglovitz

I would teach my future students about Rule#1 Remembering the Human by giving each of my students an ipad or computer. I will then assign each student to another student within the classroom. The students that are paired up will have to type emails to each other for a half hour without being able to see each others face throughout the whole 30 minute . I will assign half of the group to say a joke to the other person without the other half of the class knowing it is a joke. The other person will have to read it and try to interpret it in what ever way they feel is the way they read it. I will also do this vise versa. This will give the students an understanding of what it feels like to not understand what the other person is trying to say. I will also allow them to see that everything you say online is not always the right thing to say.

Rule #5 Make Yourself Look Good Online - Nicole Winglovitz

Rule #5 "Make yourself look good online", briefly talks about how being professional is the key to being liked via the internet. People who write proper with not a lot of spelling errors and etc. will be more likely to be respected via internet. If you have a lot of errors and don't make much sense people will look at you differently. Some people try to impress people by writing big words that they might not even understand. This causes people to not look at you proper and you will not impress them!
I chose this rule, because it has a lot to do with communicating through the internet. As a future teacher, communicating through the internet it a very important thing to be able to do. I will need to be able to be proper with what I am writing and be able to spell mostly everything right so that I do not look like unprofessional to the parents of my students.
This rule is very important to my students, because it is the number one thing they need to learn in life. They will need to be able to learn the right way to spell and speak to a person via the internet. They will need this regardless of what profession they want to become. This is because, proper spelling and language via internet communication can really help you be a well liked person in what ever profession they choose.

Citation:
(n.d.).
Rule # 2 Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life - Leanza Gavinovich

In real life people tend to follow the laws set by the government and their individual societies mainly because of the fear of consequences. Often times people forget this when it comes to being online. People tend to think that consequences for online actions do not exist because things are “anonymous”. You shouldn’t do something that you wouldn’t do in real life because there is someone sitting behind the computer screen that you are talking to. Being respectful and ethical is a key concept in practicing netiquette on the internet. Remember nothing is private when you post it online so make sure to be extra careful when sharing things with the online world. Hiding behind a computer screen does not make it right to do things that you would not do in person. Always make sure to think and make ethical decisions when you are online.
I chose this rule because when you are online you need to know what you can and cannot do. You should not be doing or saying anything that you would not do or say in real life. It is very easy to think that you can get away with something because no one knows who you are but nothing online is private.
This rule is important to teach to students because they should know that nothing said or done online is a secret. You should treat others how you want to be treated. Students need to know that when they are online they need to be careful of what they are doing. If you would not do something in real life then you should not do it online. Follow the same rules online that you would in real life.

Citation:
(n.d.).

Sometimes people want things to be kept a secret and do not want it being put online. If you would not want someone invading your privacy then you should not do it to others. You should never give out or ask for someone's personal information online because you do not know who you are talking to. There are dangerous people online who can hurt you when you give out private information. You need to be aware of the things that you can and cannot say on the internet.
I chose this rule because it is very important to teach students how to be safe online and a main part of being safe is privacy. Students need to be made aware that when you give out someones personal and private information that it is out there for the whole world to see and that can be very dangerous.
This rule is important to teach to students because they need to know what is right and wrong about what to share online. When talking to someone else online you should not ask something that is considered private like their name, age, where they live, etc.. Also if you do not want something going through your private information online such as your emails, messages, pictures, etc. then you should not be sneaking around through theirs.
Citations

I would teach my future students about rule #8 Respecting other people's privacy by telling them to think about a secret in their head, that they would not want anyone else to know about. I would then ask if any of them would like to stand up and share their secret. I would use this as an example of why we should respect other people's privacy when they wish to not share something with the public. This lesson will help them to realize that everyone has their own secrets that they do not want others to know about. It will make students understand that they should not share other people's private information because they would not want it happening to them.
