I believe that reading, re-reading and reading again, helps with the understanding of the text, the intonations that creates the meaning of the text in its entirety, the identification of words and their individual meaning, and ultimately helps to create a mental image of the story which can help students to remember the words that belong in that phase of the story.
Debbie

Reading fluency strategies such as Timed Repeated Reading, Echo Reading and Readers Theatre are all very important for students in order to develop decoding skills. By Timed Repeated Reading the students practice sounding the words over and over again until the words become easily recognizable and the student becomes fluent with them. Echo Reading allows the students to hear the correct way of reading and pronouncing while they learn to decode the sentences with each repetition. Readers Theatre is particularly interesting when the students practice dialogues since it helps them not only to learn the words but also to decode how to say the words in a way that shows emotion.

Dimitra

Time repeated Reading, Echo reading and Reader's theatre all contribute to the students' decoding skills. By time repeated reading, the student practices to read the words correctly and quickly, thus the words become familiar;since there is no time wasted on how to read accurately, he reads with understanding of the text.
With Echo reading the student hears the correct pronunciation, while he looks at the text and repeats what was heard. When the repetition happens, students also copy the tone and emotion of the reader.
Reader's Theatre is the strategy where the student practices the part he has in the script until he is fluent; this way he can say his part with understanding and showing the appropriate emotion to make it interesting to the audience and sounds natural.
All strategies above help the student to read not only correctly but with comprehension.
Theofano

Reading fluency strategies can improve both oral and silent decoding and reading ability by becoming familiar with the words repeatedly .
Chrysanthi

I think that all three strategies are very helpful when teaching learners to read. All three strategies involve repetition which help students memorize words (gain letter to print concept) and in turn improve fluency. As we know, readers who read in a word by word manner struggle understanding text. However, a fluent reader is more confident and can then work on comprehension and accuracy. By using fluency strategies we can teach our students to enjoy the act of reading!
Helen

Undoubtedly, reading fluency is something that comes after practice and after expose to different strategies and passages. As a result all the mentioned practices helping much because the students repeat specific methods which is being proved that encourage fluency and boost independent reading skills!

By reading and re-reading, echo reading and reader's theater young learners are actively involved and stimulated to meaningful activities that result in reading accuracy and finally in fluency. Many children are visual and auditory learners. As a result, it is easier to combine sounds with the actual picture of letters and reach the desired outcome which is the unconscious ability to decode and then read.

Anthoula

I believe that the idea here is to find a strategy that has the student practicing the reading. Whether it is to test their speed or in the form of echo reading, the idea is to get them to repeatedly read the passage thereby becoming familiar with the words and the pronunciation of the words and eventually the comprehension of the words. As with anything, practice makes perfect, so finding a way to encourage repetition is great!

Athena

Fluency is defined as the ability to read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression. In order to understand what they read, children must be able to read fluently whether they are reading aloud or silently. When reading aloud, fluent readers read in phrases and add intonation appropriately. Their reading is smooth and has expression.

All of these strategies are great but one thing I want to highlight is how important it is to do with students at a young age. If they have these strategies from the get go then it is already in their head how to problem solve and become better readers and more confident. I love Reader's Theatre the most because it engages the student. One of the other strategies I like to do with read aloud is "reader finger" ready. Having students follow along with the reader has them more engaged. We can stop and look at unknown words, context clues, and practice together the pronunciation of hard words. Reading is a team effort and it starts at home with parent involvement.
Nia
