One connection i found was to the main character Scrooge he reminds me of the Grinch from the movie How the Grinch stole Christmas. In the beginning both scrooge and the Grinch had a small heart and cared only about themselves. While going forward into the movie they both start to grow a heart and at the end they both have a big heart and care about everybody.
