- when you are listening you are validating the other person.
you are allowing them to set the agenda while being able to make people feel your genuine interest. You are not listening to reply, but listening to understand.

2) To find a sense of belonging 
- listening attentively with no judgment whatsoever will make people see that they are people out there who actually cared

3) So that we can stop treating conversations like a competitive sports that we need to win
-when you finally decided to talk, it’s important to understand that it’s not about wanting to get your point across and win the debate.
