This position is an integral part of a team including biologists, educators, students, and volunteers working together to conserve Alaska’s boreal songbirds. The goal of this position is to develop innovative and creative ways to share ASI’s work effectively with a broad and diverse audience. Migratory Waterfowl Refuge in Fairbanks. Instructors are responsible for the complete curriculum

planning, leadership, and supervision for one group of 8-12 children per week. Groups range in age from

4 - 5 (pre-school) and 6 - 11 years old (day camp). Instructors develop, organize, and implement

developmentally appropriate, fun, and educational activities to facilitate children’s exploration and

discovery of nature.

Wilderness (BWCAW). This position is a direct response to the growing need for general maintenance

throughout the Wilderness Area, specifically on portages, campsites, and trails.

the Wilderness Project Leader will be given all the training, tools, and information they need to

Using and developing algorithms for hierarchical models with NIMBLE, including MCMC and Laplace approximation-based methods

The workshop will provide in-depth, hands-on training for using NIMBLE, including:
- Setting up models in NIMBLE.
- Overview of different MCMC sampling strategies and how to use them in NIMBLE, including Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC).
- Writing new distributions and functions for more flexible modeling and more efficient computation.
- Tips and tricks for improving computational efficiency.
- Use of Laplace approximation-based methods including NIMBLE's new INLA-like nested posterior approximation.
- Using specialized model components, including Bayesian non-parametric distributions (based on Dirichlet process priors), conditional auto-regressive (CAR) models for spatially correlated random fields, and reversible jump samplers for variable selection (based on participant interests).
- Use of NIMBLE for specific ecological models (based on participant interests).
- An introduction to programming new algorithms in NIMBLE, including use of automatic differentiation (AD) in algorithms.

For the fall 2026 term, EarthRISE Developers Academy will provide in-person opportunities at Ames Research Center (Moffett Field, CA), Goddard Space Flight Center (Greenbelt, MD), Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Pasadena, CA), Langley Research Center (Hampton, VA), and Marshall Space Flight Center (Huntsville, AL). Additionally, a limited number of projects are available for virtual participation. Through collaborative projects, professional development, and state, local, tribal, territorial, and private partnerships, the Academy equips participants with the skills to accelerate innovation and bridge Earth science with the future of space exploration.

The Developers Academy is an interdisciplinary activity, where we accept participants with experience in a variety of fields, as well as from different phases of their career. Applicants with demonstrated skills in Earth and/or environmental sciences, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and/or computer science are encouraged to apply. Participants will work together on teams, guided by NASA science advisors and in partnership with decision-makers, to expand their skills to use NASA science data to address environmental concerns related to disaster management, agriculture, ecological conservation, and water resources.

Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. EarthRISE Developers Academy offers hourly, paid positions with rates that are determined by education level and working location. Synopsis:
The U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (NSF TIP) introduces the NSF Tech Accelerators initiative to enhance the process of transforming research outputs emanating from basic research into scalable, market-ready technologies that strengthen the U.S. economy and enhance American national security.

NSF Tech Accelerators are new or existing organizations comprising a range of stakeholders (e.g., researchers, innovators, founders and entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and other investors, leading industry experts, government funders and beyond). They in turn invest in teams to advance their deep-technology ("deep-tech") ideas from the lab to the market. NSF Tech Accelerators focus on deep-tech areas currently under-invested at the pre-seed, seed and Series A stages and they demonstrate viability for these areas by, in part, "crowding in" investment from venture and other funders over time (note that a requirement of successful NSF Tech Accelerators will be significant cost-sharing on the part of the proposing teams especially in the later stages of technology development and commercialization).
