Reminder to parents and guardians that the BLDC will be hosting a firefighter appreciation day this coming Friday, September 18 from 4:00 to 4:45 pm. Some members of the fire department will also be present.

Daycare

The daycare will be having elders tea day, along with some lights snacks. Elders will be coming into the daycare at 2:45-4:00pm durning children’s snack time, April 1, 2026.

After eating and drinking tea, the elders will get to talk about how traditional games were played to help them get through the day and how traditional clothing kept them warm when going out haunting. This purpose is to help keep the Inuit knowledge and traditions alive within the next generations. If any of you parents have any Inuit tools to show the children you are welcome to take them along with the visit.

I just wanted to send a quick thank you to all the families, our special guests, and our daycare community for making the graduation so special. It was such a joy celebrating the children and all they've accomplished together.

All parents are welcome to enjoy some snacks, drinks and games starting at 3PM until 5PM! There will be caribou stew, bannock, buns, fruits, and variety of salads!

There are three prizes for three winners (all ages!)

On August 12, 2026 at 3:30 pm the Baker Lake Daycare is going to have a graduation ceremony for the children who are going on to Kindergarden. There’s going to be some snacks and refreshments and after the ceremony your children can decorate their own picture frame that’s going to hold your child’s graduation photo (photo and frame will be provided by the daycare)

We will be celebrating Nunavut Day with you! There will be elders telling their stories along with two talented performers that will throat for us.

There will be tuktu stew, bannock, buns, tea, coffee and such!
