My evidence connects with my claim because in 1977 the drought happened, as the rainfall decreased, so did the life one the island. the plant population decreased from that as the soft plants requiring a lot of water. so the birds that depended on soft plants because of their small beaks, died off. while the ones with long strong beaks survived off the hard plants and increased in population.

the second evidence connects with the claim because there was two types of seeds the birds depended on. before the drought the plant population together was 19 per square meter. now after the drought, the birds couldn't find much of the soft plants and had to resort to the hard plants. now because of this the short beak birds died off because of lack of plant. now ones will long beaks could depend on the hard seeds and survive with it. now they increase in population because their genetic growth allowed their beak to be stronger and longer.

this third evidence is connected with the claim because it talked about the birds genetic growth. now before the drought where there was plenty of soft plants, the birds beak can be a little shorter and wider because they can eat the soft food. so now in 1078 after the drought, the bird population and plant population decreased. this is because of the soft plant dying out. now the birds with wider beak can do nothing as they are to small to fly to other islands and the drought was probably in all of the islands. because of the shorter beak birds dying out. the ones with longer beaks stayed living. now this shows our claim because the birds are adapting to their environment now and starting to show the birds that can live in this area.
