Great expectations is an amazing bildungsroman by Charles Dickens which talks about the growing and the maturing of a boy with a complex, intriguing and dramatics story. This novel has a melancholic atmospheres, but it's also very emotional. The novel is set in Victorian age; Dickens shows with a great mastery the social system of that time. He starts from the slightest step like the crime, passing for poor farmers and poor artisans to arrive at the middle class and the rich aristocracy.

I like Great expectations for his interweaving but mostly for his characters always very original. They are described by Dickens in detailed way, deepening their psychology always very elaborate. The novel does to understand also the importance of the friendship and of the honesty, most importants than the economic and social welfare.
