I've always been obsessed with the idea of windows.
There is something so simplistic and clear about their shape yet each window has an untold story behind it that is only left to our imagination.
I have been drawing windows for nearly 10 years now but only recently I've started to questions why this theme have became so important and meaningful to me.

I realised that we are all windows.

We view the world from our window and we only see people's windows from the outside.

Some people leave their curtains closed and we can't see inside, but we can still learn something about them with this choice.
Some people have their windows wide open, but even then there are things that are hidden from the eye.

Sometimes there are things on our window that block out the view.
If you close your blinds, people cannot see you, but can you see them?

You can learn a lot by looking at a window.

When we form relationships we might open our curtains a little for that special person or put something on the edge of a window so that they can see something that was out of sight for others.

Similarly, when relationships end, we can choose to close our blinds for that person, this can shade darkness on our inside.

What is important to remember is that every window have an untold story. What you see is not all of it.
You would never see the actual inside of someone's home, the same way they would never see the inside of your home.

We are only windows to each other.

After a long period of time where I tried to understand my love for windows conceptually, my teacher told me to try and find a physical window and see what happens. I plan to use these windows from my play your own performance in front of the department. I am still unsure what this would bring or how I might use it, I just know that it is very exciting to have windows of my own.

I had to carry 2 windows from east London to Blackheath. The journey took me about an hour and I had to change in London Bridge station.
It was a strange experience to carry 2 windows through central London.
It made we wonder the role of windows in our life. My first thought about windows were that they can transform us to different places. When I look at a window from the outside it makes me wonder about the world beyond that window. By carrying a window through London it made me think about another aspect that a window generates. When I look through the window from the inside to the outside world, it gives me context. It is a connection to the world around me.

Hopefully, by using a window out of context and a moment in my life out of context I can create a new context.
