You will be introduced to the range of rules and regulations that exist in Basketball, you will then consider how to apply these to game situations. We will apply the basic principles of passing, shooting and dribbling to game play. <br><br><strong>Enrichment:</strong></div><ul><li>To help better understand the rules of the game, watch professional leagues from America (lots of clips available on Youtube). In addition to watching the skill shown in the game by the players, focus on the movement and teamwork shown by the officials.</li><li>Attend after school basketball club or attend a club within your local community.          <description><![CDATA[<div>In year 9, we will be working on the key pillars of the course. Giving students an introduction to these elements, beginning to refine their practical performance as well as develop their competence and confidence to lead and officiate in sporting environments.&nbsp;<br>During the Spring/Summer term Year 9 will complete a series of mock pieces of coursework which will assessed internally – These will include a Personal Exercise Programme (PEP). Review and analysis of a sporting performance and planned improvements as well as a delivery of a session plan including evaluation.<br><br>In Year 10, students will complete 2 units of coursework.<br>R185 is split into 5 units which will be covered in the Autumn/Spring term which will focus on the following:<br>1. key components of performance.<br>2. Reviewing your own performance in planning and leading a sports activity session.<br><br>In the Summer term students will complete the final piece of coursework which is unit R186- Sport and the media. This unit will focus on the different sources of media that covers sport as well as looking at the positive and negative effects of media in sport.&nbsp;<br><br>Unit R185 and R186 combined are worth 60% of their final grade.</div><div><br>In Year 11, students will be introduced to the exam content which they will sit a written exam for. We will consider fielding positions and successful hitting techniques in both Rounders and Cricket.
