Some reasons why young girls have to (with no choice) marry men is because of gender inequality, poverty, or tradition, but the main reason is gender inequality. Many countries who do child marriage think that girls have less 'value' then boys. They are thought as 'a burden' on their family. They also consider marriage at a young age to control how a girl behaves, such as what to wear, who to see, etc.

One reason it happens is because of poverty. Many people can't afford going to school. In Nigeria, only 4% of poor young woman can read. Also, marrying at a young age can also be a cause to drop out of school. Violence is a reason too. One in three Haitian woman has experienced physical/sexual violence, some causing to not be able to go to school.
