A healthy diet with less salt, exercising regularly, quit smoking and maintaining a healthy weight can go a long way. But sometimes lifestyle changes aren't enough.<br><br></div><div>In addition to diet and exercise, your doctor may recommend medication to lower your blood pressure for example; Thiazide diuretics or water pills act on the kidney's to help the body eliminate sodium and water, reducing blood volume, Beta blockers which reduce the workload on the heart and open up blood vessels, Calcium channel blockers which relax blood vessel muscles and slow heart rate down, and etc...<br><br></div>]]></description>
