Question 1:
What role do twins play in the study of human growth?
- Twins are a very valuable resource to scientists because of their genetic makeup, specifically identical twins. Because identical twins have the same DNA scientists can use them to test the nature vs nurture (gene vs environment) by placing them separately and observing them. In addition, a set of twins can be compared to other sets of twins.

Question 2:
What role do genes and the environment play in human growth?
- Genes are the foundation and influence on how we react to outside stimulus. However, as very social creatures, we are very dependent on other humans and our social interactions we make. These connections help us through our stages of growth.

Question 1:
What are some of the changes that are examined by developmental psychology?
- Changes that are examined fall in three categories being physical, mental and emotional. Motor skills and prenatal development correlate to the physical aspect whereas social impairments fall into the mental health related aspect.
Question 2:
What are the seven (7) principles or perspectives (theories) of life-span development mentioned in the video; and share some brief details about each principle.
- Nature: Based on the notion that our genetic makeup is the basis for how we develop/the "most influential" out of the nature v nurture.
-Nurture: Based on the notion that as we develop we are shaped by our surroundings/how we are taught as opposed to what genes we are born with
-moral understanding: Kohlberg's theory based on Piaget's theory, for example, the choice between the rights of some authority versus the needs of some deserving individual who is being treated unfairly.
-emotional development: our relationships with other people.
-Psychosocial: Erikson- Having to do with ego identity; the sense of connection or belonging to a person and a particular group, the values of which a person shares.
-continuities: The theory that a person will maintain the same activities, behaviors, and relationships as they did in previous years of their life.
-sequential: The theory that children develop more discretely in a series of stages which are each fairly stable.
