A psychotic landlady lures him a sign in thew window and a very appealing home. He decides to rent a room. She ends up poisoning him with cyanide in his tea that had a hint of bitter almonds. She talks to him about her other guests who have never left. He has a strange memory of the guests names. He recognizes their names. She is a taxidermist.  Her plan is to stuff Billy Weaver just like her other guests. 
The theme could be:
Be careful who you trust/encounter
When something is too good to be true it is definitely not true.
Trust your gut instinct
Never go into a strangers house
Follow the signs
