What are your pedagogical commitments? 
My commitment is to bring all stories in an equal manner and to work continuously to combat the colonist ideology. I think a lot of our cultures and experiences have been overshadowed by the main narrative and we must fight to be heard.

I enjoy Kimberly's presentation and I feel that I can see parts of the reading come alive with this presentation. With the capstone project, students can explore a chosen social issue. I wonder if Oakland has an opportunity for students to do this project together. What would that look like? The reading emphasizes community building and collective change from community organizations. What would this look like from the perspective of school-related organizations? 

In the past, I have had bad experiences with interdisciplinary projects since I felt it was not useful and force upon students. I am quite skeptical of it. But, I do understand the need to cultivate a civic praxis. I think I need to find time to learn how my school creates community engagement opportunities and find space to enact such projects. I would want to push for a new understanding of power structure and hopefully push that into a project in some ways.
