Today, we visited the library and enjoyed exploring books that connect to our learning—some about families, others about different cultures and experiences.

In maths, we’ve been focusing on place value. The children have been working on matching numbers to objects, recognising numerals, and beginning to understand how numbers are made up. It’s been lovely to see their confidence grow as they explore numbers in different ways.

We also rolled up our sleeves for the Kingsbury Bake Off! The children had a brilliant time preparing cakes for the school bake sale, carefully measuring, mixing, and decorating their delicious creations.

In English, we linked our learning to our topic ‘Getting on with Others’ by reading the much-loved story Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. We focused on the actions of the characters and how they showed kindness, teamwork, and friendship. The children discussed how the characters helped one another and what it means to be a good friend.

Throughout the week, we took part in a range of activities to support our social and emotional development. These included speaking and listening tasks, sharing games, and turn-taking activities. The children worked together, showed respect, and practised how to get along with others in positive and thoughtful ways.

In English, we’ve been reading the story Boo! and exploring how characters express emotions like surprise and fear. The children really enjoyed the story and joined in with lots of excitement and engagement.

In Maths, we’ve been working on the part-whole model, helping children understand how numbers can be broken down and combined.
