Because it allows us to see the other characters emotions, which creates sympathy and understanding of characters we may have thought were mean or evil, such as the lion.

In the Lion and the Mouse, the book is in third person, which makes us believe every characters mind based off of actions, not the reasoning. In Michael and I's version of the story, we have the reason that the lion committed actions that seemed terrible, but had good reason behind them. The lion was starving and needed something to eat! He isn't evil, he is just hungry! #justice4lion
