The Peculiar Incident Of The Dog In The Night is about a young man named Christopher John Francis Boone and he has autism. The story takes place in Swindon, England and London, England. Early into the book we are introduced to the first and main conflict of the story where his neighbors dog was murdered by an unknown person. We then are told that is is Christophers father who killed the dog, this leads Christopher to fear for not only his father but he also is scared that he will get into trouble so he then leaves Swindon to go find his mother in London.

Mrs. H says: Good summary of the events. What do you think about the book? Likes/dislikes? What is interesting to you?

One aspect of the book I would like to incorporate into my own life is Mark Watney's survival skills. Through the book Watney adapts and overcomes countless obstacles in the attempt to stay alive on mars. If I had the ability to perform under pressure like Mark Watney did I am sure I would be able to tackle any challenge ever presented to me. In the book he mentions how he has no idea what he is really doing while he is doing it but he is giving it 100% effort and I think that is really the key to success=][o.

"The farm is dead."
In this part of the book Mark Watney just accidentally ruined his whole entire space station / base of operations in turn killing his farm of potatoes which was his main source of food.
There is not a hidden meaning in these words, he is literally letting us know that all of his crops have died and will no longer be producing food. This is very important to the plot because the main struggle of the book is Mark surviving on mars but without a steady food source that will be impossible. Over all the meaning of this quote is quite literal. Mark is alone and he has no food other than his crops, so without his crops he completely looses hope.At this point in the story he is doomed just like his plants are.
