Hasty generalization

We cannot generalize something just by knowing or having one case.

ㄴFALSE CAUSE

It is not logical because its conclusion is only based on minor and exceptional case.

There are over billion of people in the world that smokes, and only one sample that writer has can be exceptional case. We can’t generalize large number of data by just one or small sample.

Why : There are only two options to choose and ignores other solutions. The speaker makes the listener not to choose better salaries for low-level employees by telling a bad option/result.

-False cause

The father lived until the age of 95, even though he smoked a lot. The reason why the father lived long maybe he had a healthy lung. We cannot exactly know the effects of smoking on health from one’s anecdote.

Incorrectly assumes that prohibiting drugs by government will lead to drastic changes.

It is saying that prohibiting drugs, which is initial action , will lead to controlling every aspects of our lives, which is drastic change.

Also there is no evidence to prove this chain reaction in sentence.

There is little evidence but only assertion.

There can be another ways to give better salaries for low-level employees. However, this sentence just suggests two options. One is increasing salaries resulting in hurting consumers, and the other is giving low salaries to workers.
