I started a part time job last month in a shop in meadowhall selling shoes and bags. When i first started i was very quiet but now i have been there for a while i am now very confident talk to customers and serving them helping them get what they want. I always approach the customer with respect and help them get better with talking to people. I could have maybe been more louder and confident first off.

I came into collage on the first day not knowing anyone but i managed to make many new friends and have built good friendships with new people. It developed my communication skills because i have never been a very confident person and was quite quiet so talking to new people grew my communication skills. I could have made friends and communicated earlier than i did as i was stood for a while in the morning not talking to anyone.

I have joined in on many enrichment activities such as making a chair out of balloons and working as a team to make it work. This developed my skills as i have never really been in a. situation to work in a team and so i have advanced my communication skills. I could have improved my communication skills by being more vocal and helping more and inputting my ideas instead of being not confident.

We had to make a power point including photos about our self with photos of our favourite things and more. This helped develop my teamwork skills because people in my group now know more about me so it can be easier to communicate. I stood at the front of the classroom and talked about myself and showed everyone about me. I could improve by being more confident when talking about myself.

We all worked together to make a quilt out of pieces of paper and made sure we included everyone's name and dreams. This went well because we included everyone's card and everyone manage to have some sort of input into making this quilt. we could have improved this by making sure every one said their ideas and making sure all ideas were included in the activity.

On Friday we did out first practical assessment which was a cabin crew pre-flight briefing. This improved my teamwork skills because we working as a team to make our script and also helping each other be calm. W e could have improved by being calm when talking to each other because we was all nervous and so wasn't working well as a team at first. We did then improve by gaining confidence and helping each other through this. We could improve this by calming each other down and helping each other and not getting stressed and worked up about it.

I go to work and college during the week. I have to be really motivated as this can get tiring as i am sometimes doing a full day in college then going straight to work. The money and the experience working in customer service motivates me as i am wanting to work in the travel industry and so it is good to have experience working in customer service.

I am motivated to come to college and achieve high attendance as i need above 95% attendance to go on trips. When i leave college i know i will have qualifications for the job i would like to do in the future and so this motivates me to come.

I am motivated to hand in my assignments on time as if i don’t this can cause me to fail the course which would not be ideal. My teachers also motivate me to finish my work because they tell me how good it is when i’ve finished and how many qualifications i will leave college with after i’ve done all of my work.

I always turn up to my lessons on time and in the correct place, even if the classroom has changed. I am reliable because my teachers know they can message me with a room change or time change and know I will be there on time.

I always complete all tasks I am set by any one of my teachers. This shows I am reliable because my teachers can set me a task to do and they know I will complete it by the time they have asked for it to be finished.

I think I am a reliable student as I will always volunteer to help out in any open evenings the college hold for my course. I volunteered for my course leader Jess, this was to do a photoshoot with my uniform on for some new promotion photos for out course to promote this to other people making this look more appealing to them.

I support people who are in my lessons when we are in lesson doing assignment work and learning new things. I also support my friends when we aren't at college when they need help doing some assignment work and they are in need of some support with a part they are unsure about.

There was someone in my class who was a little bit nervous to do a presentation and so I supported her whilst she was preparing for this. I did this by making sure she was well prepared and was telling her to make sure she remembers to take deep breaths and take her time as there was no time limit to present this.

When I have been at work I have supported the people around me when they needed me. I have done this when a new girl started after I had been there a while and so I was showing her where everything is and how we are supposed to approach customers when they walk into our shop. I have also supported my work colleagues when they have been trying to complete a task and needed some help doing it for example my work colleague was moving some show boxes and so I supported her by helping her take some of the boxes to the new area.

I have had a part-time job at Kurt Geiger since August 2023. I have gained a lot of customer service skills during this time and have had to deal with situations face to face with many customers. If I was to get another part-time job I would make sure that I would be less quiet and shy when first starting off.

At college I did a charity fundraiser for Barnsley Hospice. We sold baked goods and ran a raffle at college and raised over £180 for Barnsley Hospice. I have gained skills from this such as communication skills as I had to talk to people I have never talked to before or seen before. I would be more confident this time as I was quite quiet at times and I would be more patient. I achieved communication skills and this can be put onto my CV to show future employers I have done voluntary work in my past.

I have done a bake sale at college from one of my teachers. I made quite a few baked goods for this such as brownies and cupcakes. I also handed these around the CUBE and Honeywell offering them to people and asking if anyone if they would like some sweet treats. This helped my gain a lot of confidence as I would have never imagined myself walking into classrooms full of people I didn't know but I soon overcome this. I would make sure I am loud and make sure people are aware of how much everything is that we are offering to them.

We did a sustainability day at college with Adam and Lisa. During this day we calculated our digital footprint and though of ways top change how we do things. We also wrote a pledge to make changes to our everyday lifestyle. This made me realise that I contribute a lot to the pollution in the atmosphere and my carbon footprint needs to be lower.

I recycle products at home, i make sure all cardboard is flattened and put into the cardboard bin, i make sure all plastic is put into the plastics bin aswell as general rubbish into the correct bin.
