My myth is about a Sun (woman) and the Moon (man) where they made a bet of whoever woke up first would rule the day and whoever slept in would rule the night. The sun was so mad the that the moon wouldn't sleep so the Sun decided to get up early which meant the day was her's. The sun swore she would never spend another night with the Moon but she began to miss the Moon and so did the Moon so they decided to get back together. Then they fought again and so they went there separate ways but they always found a way back to each other.

My myth takes place in Ancient Egypt. People in Egypt worshiped the sun god, Rah. He made voyages to and from the underworld, shining light on the dead. During his time in the underworld, it is night time. During his voyages, the god of darkness and chaos, Apep, chases Rah. Apep's body is in the shape of a giant snake. On rare occasions, Apep was able to catch up to Rah and swallows him whole. Since the god of the sun is engulfed in darkness, this causes a solar eclipse. Since Rah has sharp claws and a sharp beak, he is able to rip out of Apep's stomach, freeing himself and ending the solar eclipse.

My myth is from Native America.

Summary:

The Pomo Tribe are a group of Native Americans from Northern California. There was a large Bear who lived in the sky and walked on the Milky Way. One day, the Bear was walking around in the sky and the bear bumped into the sun, and the sun was walking in the other direction. The Sun told the bear to move out of it's way, but the bear said that the sun should move. The bear and the sun were very stubborn and the started yelling at each other for a while but neither of them wanted to move. Later on, they started to get angry at one another and they started to fight each other. The bear started tackling the sun and the bear bit him, which blocked his rays to the Earth. After that the sun was able to free himself from the bear, which brought light back to Earth. After they had finished fighting, the Bear and Sun started walking in the sky again but every now and then they would bump into each other during their walks and fight.

The Pomo name for a solar eclipse means "Sun got bit by a bear."
