It's not something I would really expect for a college computer lab. I would think something more formal or digital I guess. Not something so round and bouncy. The letters also aren't put together neatly.

So, Sour Patch Kids are my favorite candy and I'm very familiar with the bag. What's interesting about the type for me is that it alternates between straight and round edges. I would expect it to either be completely round or completely straight but it's mixed. Maybe that has something to do with the "sour than sweet" tagline. I looked up the font and what I found was called Blowfish, but Blowfish was completely round. So maybe Sour Patch Kids made their own typeface?

The spikiness of the letters and how they're all very triangular, especially the "o"'s which look like rhombuses. I think this may be another case of the typeface being specific only to the show, but I'm not sure.

This is another shirt I found while shopping and it only caught my eyes because of this typography class. I could not stop thinking about why there was such a large space in-between "practice" and kindness". The leading is so off for seemingly no reason. The message doesn't suggest a need for so much space, quite the opposite in fact. Other than that, I like the almost "seventies-esque" font. It matches with the tie dye.

The reason I added this is because this is one of those serif fonts that I actually don't mind.

Maybe this is a Trader Joe's thing, but I'm not a fan of the mismatched fonts. "Pappardelle" is in this fanciful script font and then "pasta" is just under it looking like an afterthought. I think the kerning of "pasta" was as best as they could manage, but it doesn't feel right. And even thought I shy away from script fonts, I don't actually mind the one on this package. The strokes don't look unnecessarily thin or dramatic.

So, this is a poetry collection that I absolutely love, but I can't help feeling like the cover is juvenile. Especially concerning the text. The font for "Crush" looks like they opened a Word document and picked the first serif font. This book is about passion, panic, desperation, and just in the left corner is this basic "Crush." I think the least they could have done was have it in white so it stood out more. I don't have a problem with the "Richard Siken" text (except maybe for its placement) because it's so small and its white so it stands out. I just think the title, such an important part, could have been better.

Honestly, I think they should have more consistency with their fonts overall, but then I wouldn't have so much to add in my journal. So, I really like the "Tea." Two tone fonts are very cool when done well and I think it was done well here. There's also a slight wave to all the text which is interesting and invokes this feeling of a summer breeze, the perfect time for sweet tea. The white border around the name is interesting but I don't mind it. I will say the "A" in "Tea" looks off because the left stroke is so much thinner than the rest, there wasn't really an opportunity to showcase that in the other letters.

This was the first time I had ever seen this brand before, and both me and my dad made a comment about it. It stands out from the rest of the milk. I think the "cutout" font look is really interesting and modern, Having the text be the same neutral color as the bottle but with a colorful shadow makes it fun, especially with how round the letters are. I think it does take away from the legibility, as I thought it said "apple" at first and wondered why there was apple juice in the dairy section. The rest of the text is pretty ordinary, but I like the risk they took with the name.

What stood out most to me was the Old-Fashioned ness of the "Tart Cherries" font. It seems intentional to me and it works well with the product. The script, with the thin hairline and thick curves is pretty attractive. And the rest of the text being modern sans serif type works well. I do think the trader joe's "Dried Fruit" text clashes with it. I totally get why that font was chosen for dried fruit but I wish they had changed it for this bag. It's TOO dry and folksy for the sweet "Tart Cherries" font.

The main thing that stands out to me is the shadow or aura around OxiClean. First there's that dark blue border around it, then the yellow shadow, and then the white. It's almost like it's radiating through the dirt and cleaning as it goes. Then there's the bright red MAXFORCE. So for the message of a cleaning product, it works. It is a little too strong in my opinion, too heavy.

This might be a little hard to see but I thought it was interesting that for how old this is, it doesn't look severely outdated. The fonts are all pretty modern, even if the title has a kind of retro feel. I'm assuming it was meant to look futuristic and bold. The blockiness of the title isn't my favorite but I think it fits with the theme.

Burt's Bees is one of those brands that I think has consistent and attractive looks. I think the fonts here are clean and simple, easy to read and look nice against each other. I think if "for cats" was italicized, maybe something else could be too like "with apple and honey." And if the rest was serif font, it should have been consistently serif font. The space underneath "for cats" is awkward as well.

I think my least favorite part of this is the brand name "SmartyKat" and the curviness of the letters. If it had been either more curved or the rest of the text used that font, I would have liked it more. I think because catnip is meant to make your cat playful, the playfulness could have been amped up so much more. The text also feels super cramped to the left with the leading way too short. Some more text hierarchy would help this.

This one is just really classic and clean. Because there's no illustration on the cover, the text has to speak for itself. I think the serif font looks both timeless and antique, which works with the book setting. It also matches the character in the middle so everything fits well. I will say the italicized "the" isn't my favorite but I see why it was done. Maybe I would like it more if "Hobbit" was also italicized.
