Definition:
The red flag: Appeal to Authority is when a person of authority (lawyer, celebrity, doctor) uses there platform to promote a product or lifestyle. When people see this person of authority promoting something that must mean that it is good so they have to go get the product.

Connection:
The video below shows LeBron James one of the top NBA players in a commercial for Sprite. This demonstrated Appeal to Authority because a person with a platform is promoting a product. Therefore, since he is well known and people like watching him they may be more inclined to buy the product he is promoting.

The person responding didn’t respond with any information about garbage pick-up all he responded with was “we all live in a town where you can ask questions.” This is irrelevant information and distracts the audience from what the actual question was.

Definition:

The red flag All Natural is the idea that nothing is artificial. Just because it may be “all natural” does not mean it is the best option and is good for you. For example, salt is all natural but too much of it can raise your blood pressure and cause dehydration.

Connection:

In this girls YouTube video, she shares her “all natural” skin care routine which includes ingredients like honey and brown sugar as well as a natural liquid soap which includes organic oils. On YouTube, you never know if the person is being genuine and actually giving an honest review. Here they are all natural ingredients but you don’t know if she is promoting this just to get a paycheck or if she actually likes it.
