Words and sounds can be adapted to 1st grade.<br>Here a teacher defines the categories in advance of the sort and makes it clear on how to conduct the sort (Bear et al., 2016). The teacher isolates the beginning sound to be taught and makes a connection to the letter that represents it using key words. For example, “Shhhhhhoe, and Shhhhhell, do they start the same way?” </div>]]></description>
