According to Department of Health (DOH), it is important to obtain both OPV and IPV to ensure protection from the poliovirus. OPV is given orally as drops in order to provide protection in the mouth, intestines, and blood. This is particularly important as the virus infects the mouth and multiplies itself in the intestines. Meanwhile, IPV, compared to OPV is given through injections. Hence, it mainly provides protection in the blood and it enhances the protection that the OPV gives. In its simplest sense, tetanus vaccines are recommended to prevent tetanus. Tetanus is caused by Clostridium tetani which may be found in soil, rusty tools such as nails, and feces of human and animals. Having that said, children, who are fond of playing outdoors are at risk of being infected especially if the soil comes in contact with an existing wound or opening in their skin.
