This is because the buildings around the school gave some shade to some parts of the field but not all. Depending on the time of the day and where the sun is, the amount of shade given might differ. Because of it the temperature taken would be much lower when it is taken under the shade compared to when it is taken under the sun.

Avg temperature: 28.3°C
Avg wind speed: 0.8m/s
Avg relative humidity:72.5%

Weather: windy and cooling with some clouds
Surroundings: plenty of shade, including trees and the DnT block. An expressway sits nearby. The ground is a brick pavement. Sitting beside the building are some air-conditioning units.

Considering the generous amount of shade provided by the trees and building, the temperature in Site D would be generally cooler compared to the rest of the sites, but there is no presence of any water bodies, which means that shade is the sole factor of the cooler temperatures. The expressway nearby and the presence of air-conditioning units contributes to the warmer temperatures as the carbon dioxide produced by vehicles traps heat and the the air-con units produce warm air that affects the overall temperature of the site. Adding on, there is a brick pavement and bricks absorb heat which further increase the surrounding temperature of the site.
Avg temperature: 27.9°C
Avg wind speed: 1.1m/s
Avg relative humidity: 78%

Conclusion

Our hypothesis: the school pond is the most ideal place for the alfresco cafe. This is because it has the lowest temperature among the 4 places we can prove this because the presence of trees and buildings around the school pond gives shade and lowers the temperature.

According to the results, our hypothesis is correct. Since alfresco cafe is an outdoor cafe, customers would prefer a cooler place to dine and relax. Comparing the 2 sites, site B and D that has one of the lowest temperature, site B is still a better choice compared to site D. Because although site D might posses factors that hypothetically makes it cooler, there are still other factors which increase the temperature of the site. Although site A's temperature is pretty close too, it is not an accurate result as the site A's results have a larger temperature range due to the factors like the time when the readings were taken. Site C is the least ideal place as there is not much shade in that area. Site B have the presence of shade and water body that lowers the temperature, therefore making it the ideal place for the alfresco cafe.

We could have done more research as to how different surroundings could actually affect the readings taken and minimize these factors in order to take a more precise reading. We could also take more readings to compare the results and get a more accurate results.
