Dear EMS/BCPS Administration,

Our Aviators have been exploring the question, "How can we improve communication between home and school at EMS?" We discussed how important it is to student success for communication to be strong and for everyone to feel informed. As a result, we interviewed parents, teachers, and worked in groups to compile a list of things parents, students, and teachers want the others to know. We discovered that a great deal of this information was out there, but parents don't always know how to access it or are still wanting to know more. On this Padlet, you will find suggestions we discovered that we could do to improve communication between home and school. To improve on communication between home and at EMS, I suggest on things on Sundays or Monday to send out a document of everything that's due that week with a picture of what it looks like. As a new 6th grader this transformation is a little hard. To help us with everything that is due because a lot of use play sports and it can be hard to keep up with everything.

To improve communication between BCPS/EMS schools and families, I suggest that there should be a weekly email sent out at the beginning of each week with the important information about that week.

To improve communication by BCPS/EMS we should send out a weekly email every Friday including the following; What is going on in each class, How their child is doing in school other than grades, What their child is struggling with working in a group, sharing in class, being kind, ect., what the most rec3ent sporting event was, (did we win or did we lose), and lastly, when all of the field trips are no matter if their child can go or not. This would be helpful because the parents can know what is going on at all times.

To improve communication by BCPS/EMS, I suggest every Friday students should email their parents/guardians. In these weekly emails, students could say any important information, if any events are coming up, their grades, if they do not understand what is going on in class, if any bad behavior has occured, what is going on the next week, if students have any homework/work due anytime soon, if there are any dress down days coming up that aren't on a Friday, if they are not getting along with another student, how their week went, and much more. All the reminders of the events this week
Tell them when clubs/sports practices is happening.
Add a reminder of what you cant wear on dress down days or normal dress code days.
Tell them about the child's grade before the child gets told.

I also think that the school could give updates on their kids daily schedule like time that they go to lunch etc. Also maybe a message about when the spirit wear shop closes down, and also how to get more spirit wear clothes.

To improve communication we can send a weekly news letter to parents and send a email every Friday to tell them what we have done this week and to tell them what payments are due, make sure they look at there kids grades, make sure they look at the slide for what they need to now, and what some of them can do to help there kid in anyway they can.

To improve the communication we need to send our parents an email at the end of the week to inform the parents what is happening. For example, we need to put what we did that week, what homework we have or what work needs to be turned in, if we have any missing work, and if anything special is happening the next week.

They should inform all parents about behaviour and other stuff the kids are doing wrong. They should also inform the parents about upcoming changes to the school or our schedule, they should always add all details and tell parents on how to work apps that we use so they know whats going on.

To improve communication, we could have a weekly newspaper for each team at EMS. It should include any assignments that are due that week, tests, and any other activities that we have that week. To improve communication between BCPS/EMS and families, I suggest that the school get a satellite phone, send out daily texts with any important information, and send a summary of student progress each week. It may also be helpful for the school to keep their website up-to-date with all the current information and have a place for parents who may need to help their child with homework.
