I think live TV presenters are really impressive as they have to deal with changes on the go. I think Davina McCall is excellent. I like interviewers too - Alan Carr is very quick witted and is able to draw people out of themselves and he makes things interesting by adding in humour. I saw a programme with Afua Hirsch recently and I liked how she talked to you, not at you.

One person in particular comes to mind. Erik Singer is a NYC based dialect coach who provides technique critique on the YouTube channel WIRED. He displays a combination of passion, tone, eye contact, expertise, and ease of explaining complicated processes. I could watch his videos all day!

She adds fun sometimes and shows great respect for her culture.

Oprah is a great presenter whose words are usually very inspirational. She speaks from her heart and often engages her audience. She shares from her wealth of experience, which makes her presentations very empowering.

The way in which he engages with the audience with fascinating tidbits of information whilst also throwing in the odd bit of humour is quite enthralling.

Barack Obama was also an inspiration for me for a very specific reason. When Obama gave a speech he would always hold his hand up when speaking, as if using his hand as a focal point when trying to get a point across. Its something that I've tried to incorporate into my talks.

I definitely agree with most about people such as Obama and Attenborough. I’m finding it hard to pick a favourite though as there are so many great presenters whether professionally trained or not (especially in the YouTube era). One presenter I think is great is Trevor Noah from The Daily Show. He is great with the audience and it especially shows in the pieces where he goes off script in-between takes discussing topics at hand.

My general studies professor at art Christopher Cornford college had a lively and engaging delivery. I’m thinking of a talk he gave in which he drew a timeline to show the history of western art and culture, it veered downwards to classicism, up to romanticism with realism as a steady horizontal between. From the Egyptians through to Picasso in 20 minutes talk and one wobbly line on the whiteboard. Delightful.
Kurt Vonnegut did something similar with story plotting. His graph of Kafka’s ‘Metamorphosis’ - a truly miserable fable - had the audience laughing. Quite an achievement.

I don't watch too much, but I listen to a lot of podcasts and the hosts can have wildly different styles but still be captivating. E.g. Phoebe Judge has an incredibly distinctive, soft style of speaking compared to other presenters such as Jad Abumrad who are more exciteable. Personally, I really enjoy those who have excellent command of narrative and timing, and are able to take the viewer/listener along on their journey

Inspirational Presenters David Attenborough: for his passion, sense of wonder, his empathy for wildlife, for the predators and the preyed upon. With David there are no villains in nature, simply creatures trying to survive in the way that their nature has taught them. Carl Sagan, Niel de Grasse Tyson, Brian Cox: for their passion and the sense of awe and wonder that they bring to their subjects. John F Kennedy: for his passion, idealism, and ability to inspire. Lucy Worsley, Susannah Lipscombe: for their ability to bring the people they talk about to life, with lashings of empathy and humour to boot, especially Lucy!

The presenters I like the most have perfected their voice intonation and know how to engage with the listeners. I also think that the pitch of the presenter's voice plays an important role, but there is probably not much that we can change/do about it.

The presenters on the YouTube clip that we were asked to watch were all quite different in style. Some appeared more relaxed than others, others looked as if they were really speaking to us and smiling, while others were tending to look a little bit down from the camera and were reading from their notes.
I think Professor Brian Cox is very good and that he puts complicated subjects across in a simple way and I would say the same of Sir David Attenborough. Quite different styles and quite different topics but when you watch them you feel engaged and that you have learnt something. Many of the news readers on television are extremely good, although they’re using autocue but the occasional look down as a paper script makes it appear as if they know everything that they are about to say. Weather presenters are looking at the graphics and presenting the weather without an autocue so are having to keep an eye on the graphics in a monitor, describing them to us although they cannot actually see the images behind them on the chromakey screen. I’ve actually done that myself and there is quite an art to it.

Nice delivery.
Also, on "iN OUR TIME" on radio 4, Melvyn Bragg has a good way of representing the public with his questions, and shows respect to the panel. Moira Stuart has a good, paced delivery and annunciates every word. Even pacing is good, but every presenter should be able to "shake up" or wake up!! their audience in their own manner.

I believe that one of the attributes of a good presenter she had was that she was able to read our facial expression during the whole lecture.Whever somebody felt lost she managed to bring him back to the topic without losing the attention of the others .And even though it was a serious class , she kept telling some stories about her pesonal life which had nothing to do with what we were learnig, but they were still very intresting- she always found the right moments to tell them . I believe that it was one of the things that kept us concetrated.

The opening video from the Greenwich observatory showed several people presenting. I liked three ladies out of all the presenters because they were smiling, some were very pretty. Another video presenting facts about the moon the presenter was passionate in what she was saying, knowledgeable and confident, nice loud enough volume to hear and spoke at a pace I could follow what she was saying. I could watch her all day. Another favourite presenter of mine is a guitarist legend who posts videos often on you tube, he has a gentle tone to his voice and friendly.

And his segway into the meat of his speech is subtle but effective.
