As I was praying for the church and Grace Community, I really felt like I was praying for my family, and I think that was the main thing that I got from today - 
We really are a family, and that means the good fun bits of family life, as well as looking after each other, and sticking by each other through the not-so-good bits of life. 

Also, Matthew 6 has been coming up ALL WEEK for me, so I would encourage everyone to read through all of Matthew 6, as well as just the bit about prayer... it’s pretty awesome, and has reminded me that God has got this! He provides what we need, so no worries (easier said than done, but maybe thats why I’ve had Matthew 6 flung at me all week!)

He wants to flourish businesses, give new jobs, he wants us to be healthy & well in every aspect of our life. He wants us to be part of healthy families and strong communities. His heart for us is full of goodness. Success in the Kingdom looks like His people knowing whose they are and who they are. Once we know that we can pursue His will full of boldness and authority.

The Lord God is the King over His church and His people. The government rests upon His shoulders. He is above all authorities. "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." - 2 chronical 7:14

He is our Great Defender! He himself draws us to Him. He reveals himself as the true King in our lives and in our city and nation. I was second from the front and sitting in behind the leader. I kept thinking, 'I should swerve out, overtake and get to the front.' Every time I tried to do that I felt overwhelmed at what was ahead, but the rider in front eased out in front of me and protected me from being buffeted by the wind. Immediately I began to enjoy the race again, tucked in behind this leader. 

I believe God wants to remind some of us that although the road ahead can look terrifying, He is leading the way, protecting us and giving us strength. Was reminded of the gears of a bike and how they help you adjust to the terrain you are facing, the Holy spirit will help us deal with whatever life throws at us if we go in the gear he wants us to go in and this will make everything easier for us. In this time of social distancing, let's get close to the source of the living waters, let's become overwhelmed by the presence of God, and be so infectious that anyone who comes remotely near us is blessed and hears the voice of God.

God is not just interested in our obedience to a set of principles or documents, He wants us to obey his voice. This involves hearing from Him first. We can be so quick to jump ahead to following patterns that we think are good when we really need to follow the voice of God.

King Saul disobeyed the voice of God when he was told to totally destroy a particularly evil nation, he saved the King and some choice cattle to offer as sacrifices to God ... this seems totally reasonable and follows things God has said before, but it was not what God had told him to do in that context. 

Also hearing God's voice and being excited about it is not good enough. God wants us to obey Him. Faith results in action; obedience to God's voice.

I believe God is encouraging us to get good at listening to Him and then obeying Him in this season. We can win a nation that way.

That is such incredible intimacy! Felt led to pray that we would be a people who go-between the place of intimacy and abiding on the one hand, and the place of mission and courage on the other.

Praying we would become a people that live from a deep centre of abiding in Jesus. A people who live from the overflow of the generous heart of God.

This morning as I was having my quiet time I was reading about obedience and love in John 14 and 15. If we love Jesus we keep his commands.
