E- One reason why is because of Declining birth rates hence dwindling NS manpower.

E- As Singapore is a small country, and with declining birth rates, it is necessary to gather and train as many people as possible in all areas of military training, frontline combat as well as backend management. This is to guarantee the safety and security of our country and to be prepared and ready for times of crisis such as wars. In times of war, women can use the survival skills they learn in NS to take care of the young and elderly so that any injuries can be taken care of quickly.

E- According to macrotrends.net 
In 1982, there was 17 births per 1000 people, but in 2022, there are only 8.4 births per 1000 people. A very significant 50% drop in birth rates within a span of 40 years.

“an expected one-third reduction in manpower by 2030 due to falling birth rates …” said Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen in a 2019 interview, “Better deployment of servicemen and utilisation of combat platforms with advanced technology will be critical …”
 
L- Thus, with women's NS enlistment, we maximize the size of the NS army ensuring that there is enough trained manpower to defend the country as well as tend to civilians injured from attacks.

E- If women were to join NS, it may result in a loss of manpower in industries and thus have a huge impact on the economy as it will be less effective

Other measures such as raising the age of retirement or re-employment can be put in place if such economic downfalls ever happen.

E - To exercise true gender equality. 
It is every citizen’s, man’s or woman’s, duty to keep Singapore safe and secure, to safeguard its independence, sovereignty, survival and success.

E - Besides combat vocations, there is a ton of non-physically strenuous vocations (drivers, storemen, clerical, technical) which women would be equally if not better suited. A lot of warfare is also about logistics and intelligence. 

E - For example, in Israel, all childless women upon reaching the age of 18, can be called up for military enlistment. The first female fighter pilot received her wings in 2001. Many have excelled in both combat and non-combat vocations. 

L - Women is not the weaker gender. Many are physically as fit as, if better than the average man. 
Moreover, with technological advancements in the military systems, there will be less demand for frontline combat involvement. Women can therefore be trained and be able to make greater contribution backend.

We should also introduce this idea to our younger generations.
If not now, there will soon come a time where women’s military enlistment would help put Singapore in a better position strategically in terms of defence, economics and social equity.
