New Task:

Students are given three sample credit card offers (real or teacher-modified) with different terms.
They must:

• Choose the best card for a specific user profile (e.g., “a college student who sometimes carries a balance”).

• Justify their choice with evidence from the offers.

• Record a 1-minute video or voice memo explaining how their decision could change if the person’s income doubled.

Evidence of Learning:

• Application of vocabulary to real-world context.

• Demonstrates critical comparison and justification (not recall).

• Audio/video format captures authentic student reasoning and pros/cons analysis.

Students calculate the balance of a savings account after 5 years using the compound interest formula.

AI Weakness:
AI can do the math instantly — but it can’t easily show financial judgment or personal goal alignment.

New Task:

Students design a 2-slide mini-presentation titled “My Savings Strategy at 25.”
They must:

• Compare two savings or investment options (e.g., high-yield savings vs. Roth IRA).

• Use real numbers to show compound growth.

• Explain which option better supports a specific financial goal (travel fund, emergency savings, retirement, etc.).

Evidence of Learning:

• Demonstrates understanding of compound interest and practical decision-making.

• Requires explanation in their own words using visuals or data.

• Choice of goal personalizes the response, making it uniquely student-authored.
