Social media is very present in my daily life. I use it everyday for many things, such as work, education and leisure time. I use it to chat with friends, to share pictures, videos and music, to see what others share, to read about opinions and news or to look for ideas about specific topics. The main social networks that I use are WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Pinterest. Apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat and Instagram I use to get in touch with the people that I know and to share certain content with them. On Twitter I normally share my thoughts from a more personal point of view. I also like reading the news and the different comments of people about certain subjects. Lastly, I use Pinterest as a source of inspiration where I can get ideas and save them in different folders.

While on Twitter and Snapchat I only allow people that I closely know to follow me, on Instagram I have followers that are friends of my friends or people who I don’t have a close relationship with. This makes me reflect and overthink about the things that I tend to post. In fact, I stopped sharing posts and now I tend to share more “stories” which just last 24 hours.

I don’t really talk to people that I know face-to-face. But, when this case is given, I try to maintain the distance and precaution involving the information or the content that I share. Other than that, I use an informal record and I try to be nice and respectful.

To finish, I would like to do a personal reflection about my screentime. As I already said, social media and online networks are a very important tool in my life. Nevertheless, it takes more of my time than what I would like. It has become a difficult task for me to disconnect from social media and this has affected some serious aspects of my life as it is the sleep. I am trying to reduce the amount of time that I spend connected to the online world and focus more on what I have around me.
