         <description><![CDATA[<div>A tsunami is usually traveling at at least 500mph or it could even travel faster. It does tend to slow down when its at shore to around 30mph, that is due to the fact that wavelengths decrease and the waves rise in height. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>That is because earthquakes that move in the in the horizontal direction are less likely to cause one. When energy pushes the plates to move horizontally, it does not raise or lower the water enough to cause a tsunami. </div>]]></description>

These waves are quite extreme but they only affect a limited area.&nbsp;<br><br>Teletsunamis:&nbsp;waves that are generated at least 1000 kilometers away from shore, usually produced by major earthquakes they affect entire ocean basins. As it approaches land it is usually slowed down as the wave builds before breaking and flooding the land. </div>]]></description>
