At 4:53 pm, on January 12th 2010, the earthquake hit Haiti about 16 miles outside of Port Au Prince.

This earthquake was giant one. It was a 7.0 magnitude quake, 9.5 being the highest magnitude to date. This earthquake affected 3,500,000 people and out of that, 220,000 people died.

After the earthquake, 1.5 million people faced homelessness, and many homes, schools, and buildings were destroyed

For months, even years following the quake, people’s livelihoods were completely in shambles, and people couldn’t do normal daily tasks like working, going to school, grocery shopping, and so much more because pretty much every building in the surrounding areas were destroyed.

Since the earthquake, around 13-16 billion dollars have been raised to help support Haiti post earthquake, according to multiple sources.
