S - The storm happening up in Northern California is causing major problems including flooding, flash floods, high winds, and potential heavy snow in Sierra Nevada. A bomb cyclone was said to be happening in the region a bit South of San Francisco. The type of storm drops atmospheric pressure and is supposed to push the atmospheric river more South.
I - "An atmospheric river is a concentrated plume of moisture that extends over the ocean, typically in the troposphere, the lowest layer of the atmosphere." This river was directly pointed at the North Bay. This was compared to as a fire hose directly into the North Bay.
T - Burn scars are making the storm dramatically worse. With a lot of the wildfires, the wildfires created a lot of burn scars. They put a lot of threats within the area it surrounds as it offers potential life-threatening flash floods. Another area with burn scars showed debris flow with rushing mud which was said to sound like a "freight train".

A significant topic in this article is the current rain and wind on the west coast and how it's affecting the west coast badly. It tells us how places the Bay Area and the Sierra Nevada are expecting heavy snow and high winds. Something interesting that the article mentioned was that the wind was so strong, it knocked over a tree-killing causing a power outage in Washington. Something troubling is that a tree that fell because of the wind killed 2 people near Seattle.

S - Something significant is that a bomb cyclone, which is a storm that has high atmospheric pressure, will push the atmospheric rive south, causing it to hit areas in Northern California.
I - Something interesting about the article is that while Northern California is experiencing heavy rainfalls, Washington and Oregon are experiencing more of high winds.
T - Something troubling that I learned is that the California wildfires we're experiencing is potentially making this situation worse that it already is. Climate change is already adding irregular temperatures and a shift in precipitation. With the wildfires, the ground will not be able to soak up enough water, which is the reason why these flash floods are getting worse. This can also affect our agricultural growth.
