Sharanya and I arrived at the Belum Rainforest Resort at roughly 1.45 pm. Since there will be a briefing session at 2 pm, we had to take the hostel keys from Puan Nur Kalby Binti Mohd Noor (The front office receptionist) and place the luggage we brought into the room. Shortly then, We walked to Hornbill Restaurant and had our lunch. The briefing was given by the CEO of the resort, Puan Mazrita, and Mr. Musa, the resort Manager. The briefing session wouldn't be completed without the ice-breaking session. Along with the 19 Belum Rainforest Resort staff, we had the "Getting to know session" and were brief on the rules and regulations set by the management team. Everyone had to introduce themselves with their name, origin place, and the course studied at UMK.

The BRR team decided to bring us for a tour as a part of getting to know the packages offered. It started with western-styled breakfast at 8.15 am at the Hornbill Restaurant. We were told to be in sports attired and make sure to be mentally and physically prepared as there will be challenges and activities that required high level of energy and strength. We were also warned by the recreation team that there will be leeches in the jungle during the hiking activity. Leeches are not harmful to human, it is just that causes itching, irritation , redness and painless bleeding to human if they bite.
Before boarding into the boat, there were a short briefing by Encik Ikhwan ( Recreation department trainer ) on the safety measures and the places we are about to visit. He even emphasis on the importance of the safety life jacket during the tour. We warmed up for roughly 10-15 mins and some photography sessions for reports and of course for Instagram posts!
1. RAFFLESIA SPOTTING - the first in the list is the rafflesia spotting. We were fortunate enough to actually witness 4 different types of Rafflesia ( Rafflesia Kenii, Rafflesia Cantelyi and Rafflesia Azlanii.

2. SUNGAI KOOI , ROYAL BELUM - this is an important destination as the place is surrounded with 10 species of hornbills, Tenterameles Trees and Laterns.

3. SUNGAI PAPAN , ROYAL BELUM - the place is rice with 'salt lick' spot and it is playing an important role as the clinic for the six species of wildlife as Malayan Sun bear, Malayan Tiger , Malayan Tapir, Asiatic Elephant, Gour and Hornbill. During the visit of the Sungai Papan, we spotted the ' Bleeding tree", "Pokok Damar Hitam Siput". "Pokok Merbau" that has common use for traditional medications.

4. RUOK WATERFALL - the place where i actually got my 'real' happiness. I almost drowned and had to grabbed my friend's life jacket that he eventually almost drowned. It was indeed an unforgettable incident.
It was almost 4 pm, and we reached to the Hornbill Restaurant for a quick simple tea break. To start the internship program, the interns were brought for Nature Walk with the Abroist, Encik Khairul. As part of understanding the packages offered to the guests, there were a few pit stops we had to visit. in order to gain a better understanding of the packages. It is important to really understand the type of plants and the species of the fishes in order to be able to explain to the guests.
The day started off with breakfast at 9 am. A quick briefing on the pit stops we are about to visit.

1. KOLAM IKAN KELAH - it is indeed an important and crucial resource of the Temenggor Lake which is strictly prohibited for fishing activities as a way to preserve the Kelah species.

2. HERBAL GARDEN - Next on the list, is the Herbal Garden which is planted with 40 different species of herbal plants and trees for cooking purposes, and traditional medications purposes.

3. VEGETABLE GARDEN - the place where vegetables are used for daily cooking such as curry leaves, pandan leaves, and coriander leaves plant. The Garden is managed by Encik Rodzi fondly called "Pak Wan".

4. RUMAH TEMENGGOR - After 40 mins tour, We went to the sample house of the Rumah Temenggor. It is a sample house on how the Temenggor community lived in this simple yet modest design of the house. The house also served its own purposes for the Belum Rainforest Resort. Upon customers' requests, candle lights dinners were served on the Rumah Temenggor's balcony with romantic theme decoration and table settings.

5. STINGLESS BEE GARDEN - consists of 5 species of Bees with 9 bee nests. We have also explained the hierarchy of the different types of bees and their roles in the bee nest.

6. PILL BOX - It is the memorial place where the "Pill box" acts as the fortress in maintaining the safety of the place.

At the end of the day, we were given two tasks that needs to be done individually and in a group. The task for the individual is to prepare a slide on one pit stop visited today. The training started with getting to know the trainers of the Kitchen department ( Encik Syukri and Encik Amir ). The trainers brought me to the different rooms in the kitchen and explained the purposes of each rooms. There were 8 rooms in the kitchen :
- Bar room
- Butcher room
- Pastry room
- Chiller room
- Freezer room
- Prep room
- Storage room ( Dry / Wet ingredients )

We also had to prepare breakfast for the staff by 9 am. For today's menu : Fried Mamak-styled noodles. In the recipe making process, i learnt the purposes of different colours of the chopping boards. The trainers also taught me different kind of cuttings ( Fine Brunoise , Small dices , Batonnet , Julienne ). All of these cuttings i have learnt in Semester 5 in Basic cooking class with Chef Abdullah.

After breakfast, HR manager, Encik Mujahid brought all the interns to office for punching the cards for the employees' records. Within 15 mins, the Punching in/out card settled.
Since there will a group of 10 people arriving for dinner, we had to prepare for 3-course meal. I was given the task to clean the raw ingredients ( squid and the fish ).

WAYS OF CLEANING THE SQUID

I separated the head and tentacles from the squid’s body into two separate bowls.
Next, I made a cut above the eyes to separate the guts from the tentacles and get rid of the ink.
Next, you must remove the beak or mouth of the squid from the base of the tentacles, I used a knife for this process.
The fourth step is to remove the skin from the squid. to give it a clean and smooth surface.

I have also learned different kinds of cuttings according to their purposes ( garnishing, decoration, or cooking ). After cutting them, soak them in a bowl of ice water with ice cubes in to help the veggies to expand a little bit.

During the first year of the Bazaar Ramadhan, the Bazaar team allocate 3 business hours, however, they were actually surprised that in less than 2 hours the packets were sold out. Some customers even commented the rice was well cooked and the chicken was well marinated.
