1.Prepare a checklist to help your child to adjust to new routines
2.Do a Transportation practice run.
3. Prepare them for buying food at the school tuckshop/parlour
4.Talk to them about making new friends
5. Involve your child in buying their primary school supplies.
6.Attend the school Orienation.
7.Set up a study workspace at home for your child.
8. Organise a pre bedtime checklist.(money, pack school bag, uniform ready, and have a specified bed time )
9. Introduce the idea of saving. Teach your child to save.
10. Pack emergency snacks (in case you have to work late or traffic issues etc.)
11. Organise a schedule of your Child's activities especially after school activities( dance,football,piano lessons etc) as well as homework to be done for the week.
12.Ensure their safety and well being as they navigate life in primary school. Be encouraging ,interested and engaged in your Child's school life . Hello Parents, As we cope with this "New Normal" due to the Covid 19 global crisis.We at the The UWI-SOE-Children's Centre wish to re-assure all families that we continue to educate your child by providing  the E-learning Padlet platform for the April - June,2020 term. The Educators have been working extremely hard with the support of their families to create Asynchronous activities by preparing videos covering the cognitive learning domains( inclusive of worksheets  for math ,science and language) creative, physical education and social development. Synchronous learning is also offered,  which not only educates your child but allows for face to face interaction with their peers and Aunties. This platform will give each child that much needed social connection with their classmates. The entire staff continue to work remotely from their respective homes, to ensure that you and your child are able to access the best possible educational  outcomes  during these difficult times.  We wish for you and your family to stay safe and pray that this too will pass so we can meet again soon at the Centre.
